This is what I have received from IRCC when I have submitted a web-form. Few months back it was covid 19, now its due to the high volume of queries they receive from Afghanistan. I am not sure how much longer this process will take. Good luck to all…

Hello my gals: @ValeriaS and @LOLR1, and everyone with doubts about proof of common law and "original" new requests.
I just finished talking with my lawyer:
Regarding request of proof of common law while applying for a "solo" PR, he told me that is not unusual for them to ask for that. They need to verify that the person we say is canadian, and that he does not need a visa for being here (as your dependent). The papers that confirm the cohabitation also give them "a more complete picture of the relationship", and the notarized IMM form is the cherry on the top to confirm everything you are saying. This does not mean that they "change to spousal" type of PR. We apply solo, and get it solo hahah

Regarding the "ORIGINAL" version of papers, he clarified that a scan (in color) of the original requested paper is needed to be uploaded. So for example for my police certificate, or the notarized IMM form I need to scan, no to upload a photocopy. It is not necessary to send the hardcopy via mail.

Regarding the upload of documents, this was explained to me before in the forum, but just to confirm: if you do not have the button to "upload" documents in your IRCC profile, you can submit with the IRCC, but yes, you will no get a confirmation note saying thank you.

Also he reminded me that for Schedule A we need to print - sign - scan and send, because they need to have the original signature in the paper.
For people traveling/working in circles a lot, he explain that if there is several month where you travelled and did not have a physical address (multiple hotels or changing countries ie typical backpacking) , you can add this to the address form: travelling/not permanent physical address and list the countries you travel.

Schedule A: A separate and newly completed Schedule A Background Declaration form (IMM 5669) bearing an original signature A completed Schedule A for XXXXXXXXXXX with signature

IMM 0008: Application: A completed Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) The Generic Application form (IMM0008) provided with your application does not list XXXXXXXXXXXX . This form must include all necessary information for the principal applicant, the spouse/common-law partner and any eligible dependent children whether they are accompanying or not. Please submit a newly completed Generic Application form (IMM0008) listing you as the principal applicant and all your eligible family members

In my case my common-law partner is not canadian, but regardless I think everything is the same, as they will not accompanying me in this application and has their own visa/work permit for years to come.

I only have a couple questions with these documents if you guys, or anyone here knows.

For the IMM0008: How do you specify that they are not accompanying you?
My first guess was that in the form, you add you common-law partner information, but you still answer "1" to the 3rd question "How many family members, including you, are in this application(see instructions guide)?"

But seems that it is not correct. Per instructions guide:
"Enter the total number of family members included in your application. This includes yourself and any family members, regardless of whether they intend to accompany you to Canada or not."

For Schedule A:

I've sent my docs mid-september by Webform: no confirmation. Resent them again last week, and they've replied to it with confirmation just a few days later.

Well, that's unfortunate to hear that you need to collect and notarize all the documents, honestly.
Especially, "a more complete picture of the relationship". It's not a family reunion, why do they need to know my personal life?
I already submit my partner's passport, so I won't do this, but all other documents, well, I will wait for my turn and I will see either they request them from me, or not.
If yes, I probably call IRCC first, like the lady on Facebook, and only after it I send papers.

Oh, I thought for some reason that your common-law is Canadian.
If this is not the case, you need to fill up all paperwork, even if this person is not accompanying you right now.
Including travel history of this person and proof of relationship, everything.
