Super Visa (vs) Visitor Visa 2021

Hi Everyone,

We are expecting the baby by Aug 2021. So we would like to bring either of our parents by July 2021. We are expecting them to stay for at least 6-8 months. Our status is PR.

We are confused whether to apply for a Super Visa or a normal Visitor Visa for the parents (they are from India).

With the Visitor Visa, suppose if I file the application by this month itself, there are 5-6 months to July 2021. Is this period well enough to have the process done in the normal route ? By Normal route, I mean, to give the biometrics and not apply for PHAC as our desired length for the stay is at least 6 months from July 2021.

With the Super Visa, the PHAC still applies if the VFS is not yet open in India, right ? We are really confused, but wanted to really file the application as early as possible.

On a side note, I heard from one of my peers that VFS Bangalore is accepting Biometrics.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I had all document ready for visitor visa and was at last stage (fee payment), but found the processing time to be high (6 months) when compared to super visa (36 days).
Can you list what are the extra docs needed (apart from insurance), if I skip Visitor visa and apply super visa directly?
and also explain the PHAC part?

Sure, so things have changed a lot in the last few months with the IRCC. In my understanding, PHAC is only useful when we have someone seriously ill here, or bring parents here for a funeral or for care giving. But Super Visa processing is really faster now and does not need PHAC for expediting the process. I am submitting upfront medicals, home ties documents (asset ownership), my parents old passports (for travel history), vaccine certs (just for the sake of it), Letter of explanation on the proof of relationship (giving my passport for that), and a few letter of explanations on the older documents of my parents like marriage certificate being unclear, passports being unclear etc.

Once again thanks for the quick reply.
I do have most of the docs you mentioned apart from upfront medicals. Can you explain how did you do that and process after ? (can we book an appointment from approved hospital and do medicals)?
Also, what are the costs for their insurance? approx. value will really help me

Just visit this site and choose your country and a local physician -> https://secure.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

Call them and ask them if they will do upfront medicals, if they do you should be good. For insurance quotes, I used https://rates.ca/insurance-quotes/travel/super-visa for best quotes. I am not sure if they give the best service or legitimate at all. But it is something to start. The costs in that website varies from 2000 - 5500.

All the reputed providers charge atleast 4k - 5.5k.

For medical, I can just book an appointment and enter the IME/ UMI number when I fill the super visa form. Am I right?
(Is the expected processing date shown in website excluding the time taken for medicals?)
Regarding cost, the sum mentioned is for both parents and not individual I hope?

Btw did you use the IRCC portal or old GCKey for the application? Is there any advantage with one over the other?

You just have to answer in the questionnaire that a medical exam was taken in the last 12 months. Then, it will ask to submit the e-medical document. I am not quite sure on the processing date shown on the time taken for the medicals. For medicals, you can ask the hospital personnel on the total amount. I used IRCC portal, the username and password method to log in. I guess GC key is more secure than the other method.

When I mentioned cost, I was referring to the insurance (4 - 5.5k you mentioned). Is it for both parents?

For visitor visa, IRCC is promoting IRCC portal (portail one). But found no such promotion for super visa. Hence asked.

Btw in the invitation letter section, do we need to mention the amount we have allocated/ saved to support parents or just mention that we are willing to?

Further, for funds (proof) section, they ask "The letter must include the amount of money this person will be providing, plus proof that this person has sufficient funds.". What documents did you submit? (apart from past bank statement)

I am sorry for the increasing number of questions. Just that, an opinion from someone who went through the process greatly put my mind at ease. :)

Oh okay, so for the Insurance cost is for both parents.

In one of the documents, it is asking the applicant how much amount you have right? So that is where I am mentioning a rough figure and then say in my invitation letter that I am sponsoring them and request them to refer to the bank statements attached. But now that I think, it would be nice to mention the amount in the invitation letter.

For the funds proof section, is the 'person' here the family member in Canada? If so, I am providing my T4, NOA, Employment letter with gross income, and bank statement.

No worries, the application is a bit confusing. I am still learning.

Thanks again. I was busy with getting the upfront medicals and took a break from the application. Happy to say that medicals are over.
How is your application going?

I'm showing parents have access to 20k+ CAD saved for the trip and mentioned I am willing to sponsor them also (will attach my income etc to meet LICO limit). So, I was thinking of uploading my documents alone for the funds (proof) section and uploading their financial proof (bank statement, asset valuation etc. - to show strong ties to India) under additional documents section. What's your opinion on the same? What did you do (if you can share)?

I entered the medical detail in the form, but it didnt ask me to submit (scan and upload) any doc later. Was it the same for you?

I am on the exact same boat as you. Showing 20k+ through my bank statements plus adding all the tax documents/NOA etc. Also adding asset valuation certificate, bank statement, self declaration on gold assets from parents for home-ties.

You mean for the upfront medicals? My Parents called up the authorized physicians for appointments and after the medical exam, they were provided with an e-medical document which I uploaded to the application.
