Location restriction - LMIA > Work permit

Hi guys,

The company I work for is sponsoring my VISA through LMIA > WP. Although the company has an office in Toronto, it is not required to physically go to the office. I can stay remote forever if I want.. Because of this, I decided not to live in Toronto but in another city/province: Alberta.

When I told my plans to the consultant immigration office(that is taking care of my visa) they replied with: "your VISA is being processed through Toronto's immigration office attached to your company Toronto's office, therefore you will be under location restriction: Toronto"

Work at the office will never be a requirement and it's ok for my company for me to live wherever I want.. however, I'm concerned about this "location restriction".. By looking at the government site, there's only this page: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1414&top=15

will I be really restricted to live in Toronto only? is it illegal to work remotely from another province and/or city?

If your work permit comes back with a location restriction of Toronto, you will be in violation of your terms of admission to Canada if you are living in Alberta. That would make your work permit invalid and have you potentially in Canada illegally.

Yes, for closed work permits. There's a reason why they're closed.

Your employer has to prove that they could not find a Canadian resident to take up the job. If they had advertised it as a Toronto job and got no one, would they have still had no one eligible if they had said it was a remote job and advertised it nation wide?

I see the meaning behind it! Thank you!

Hello, I just wanna know your experience with Infinite Access Immigration Services and/or Abayon Immigration Services, did the process went smoothly? I wanna hear both positive and negative feedbacks. Are they also legit consulting agencies? How to spot legitimate immigration services? This is to prevent fraud.

Also, what immigration services/companies/agencies would you suggest? I am applying for a resident visa, an experienced skilled worker, and also plan to study as well in Canada. Looking forward to the feedback/s. I'll be waiting for it.

Why are you randomly posting this on an entirely unconnected thread?

Would add that the job can be done remotely there was no justification to hire someone that had to be in Canada.
