I'm very curious about what's happening with our files, even from a logistics standpoint.

Knowing my file, the only difficult point is my travel/tourist history in countries like China where security needs to tightly vet anyone with a connection there. My employer was a small business owner, which might be harder to verify.

I kinda get why the June/July applications are processed ahead. If they did it on a first-come, first-served basis, it would take longer because you'd get a backlog over a small amount of complex cases. I also suspect CIC haved upped their game for high profile applications (the TR to PR pathway and students).

I think the Conservatives election promise to offer expedited processing is a great idea but I can imagine it won't work because 90% will happily pay a large fee for a faster result.

I'm also not mad about the processing time (for now), CIC have made it very clear it takes 6 months during normal conditions. I know I'm low on the priority list and COVID has ruined an already weak system.

What am I more mad about is the lack of transparency. Both the website and agents say everything is available on the online application status page. But it really doesn't get updated other than vague ghost updates.

While it looks more efficient for CIC to cut out the transparency aspects like the status bar, it makes it worse for them because we naturally start ordering GCMS notes and calling them up.
Agreed. I would be more flexible about the wait, not be so consumed with the lack of updates and transparency, and focus on enjoying my life if they would just approve our BOWP/SOWP applications. We’ve been waiting 6 months and my partner cannot work that entire time. Just being on implied status while we wait makes everything in our life feel precarious, and we have no clue when that might change.

Well said, also they don't define 'normal circumstances', 'simple vs complex cases'. Because I knew people that literally stay in Canada for at least 6 years (gone through high school, post-secondary education), only have Candian experience, no child or any dependent, single and clear criminal record that have been waiting for at least 7 months without any progress. On the other hand, why do some people literally got everything approved within 2-3 months and others get no update even in 6 months mark??????

Second, people who came here as a student or fsw stream are currently or will immediately contribute to society in a positive way if they get their files processed within the 'promised' time frame. I have nothing against the Afgan people but the way IRCC turned CEC, FSW, or PNP applicants away and say they only prioritize Afgan people is absurd, as these people paying taxes hence your salary.

I mean if you hate your job, please quit, no need to be rude to people who just want an update on their files (I mean we paid them a fee for that too). The last time I called was August 1, 2021 and the agent gave me a lecture about not calling them anymore.

Absolutely agreed. The system can definitely be much more efficient. For example criminality is nothing more than making a few phone calls, running names/DOB/biometrics through different databases and verifying some information. Organizations do it for new hires all the time and have very quick turnaround. Visa Offices are probably just i) under staffed ii) under resourced iii) running on old outdated technology.

Like you said the system is weak and needs an overhaul. The fee that everyone pays goes to the federal govt's revenue pool. The federal govt then decides who get how much money in funding (Defense, CRA, IRCC, CBP, Port Authorities et cetera) and funding the IRCC is probably not on top of the federal government's priority list.

I called IRCC to check the status of my application and the agent spoke to me very rudely. We have been living here in Canada since last 8 years, with clean criminal record.Completed 6 months timeline, no updates yet.

I can’t even leave my job but m gonna take one month off in October hope i will get my copr before that.
My biggest regret is going for an employer specific work permit to get those 50 points. I had no idea that the score would get so low. I would have made it easily. I didnt even try for an open work permit I could have got it. Right now I just cant afford leaving this job.

Its not OINP. Its MPNP. My PR application is Rotting somewhere at the Winnipeg Local Visa office since it got tranferred to them in January 2021. I got hold of their email and contacted them. They replied that my application is waiting to be assigned to an agent and is in a Long queue. By the way, IRCC Winnipeg is the centralized intake office for Refugee applications so cant expect much from them. They are notorious for keeping the applications hanging for years.

anyone call IRCC recently??

I called on Wednesday and an agent said they do not provide status of application these days due to high volume of inquiry. They only accept contact information change. Is that true? Should I call again or just wait?

Plus, I wonder how processing time goes this days?
I checked they are finalizing applications submitted between Feb 7 and 13, but numerous invitations issued on 13.

My EE timeline below
Feb 13: ITA
Mar 2: AOR
Mar 17:MEP
Mar 22: BIO

no update after that.

Probably got GU twice endish of Aug.

Thanks.

Ghost updates are nonsense for some of us. I have got 6 ghost updates till date. Just got one again on 2nd September. Call them as you have completed your 6 month. I will call them after I complete my 6 months on 11th September.
