Hello,

I am sponsoring a partner under the Family Class Visa from UK to Canada.. we've received the "Decision Made" status in the online application status check but there has been no email or any other information added to that. It just says medical results received... any idea what the time frame would be to wait for a decision email or any contact number? They make it impossible to try and find answers sometimes!

Anything helps, thanks!

Most likely your visa is approved. The Next step would be Passport request (I assume you don't need because you are UK Citizen) and it takes weeks to months depending on the VO and there is no definitive timeline because its all over the place due to covid. Good luck!

We are in the same situation.
We discovered last week that we have a "decision made" on my application, but we don't know precisely when this happened. We got our pre-arrival letter a few weeks ago. The last status in the online tool is "we've received the results of your medical". GCKey just says that I passed the medical, but nothing about "decision made".

I've asked around on the forum and did some googling over the past 10 days, and the bottom line is that none of it really matters until you receive a written communication about the next steps. You just need to wait. I've looked at the tracker excel file, and everyone's wait time is very different.

For now we decided to give it till the end of the week, and my husband will call them on Monday to try and understand where we're at (but I am not really expecting any fundamentally new information).

GCKey will not have any further updates (except correspondence) until the COPR/visa is issued.

You are right, the timing varies significantly - but usually not extremely long after decision made plus pre-arrival. (Weeks or small-number months). Do not freak out.

Important note: for Indian applicants particularly, there have been much longer delays since the start of the travel ban - where they seem to ahve stopped issuing PPRs at all. There will be a big backlog of all docs to be issued in India - and hence delays much longer until they catch up, and probably delays in issuing PPRs as well (why issue PPRs if the visa printing part of the office cannot keep up).

Thanks for the reply! What do you mean by a pre-arrival letter? We've ended up using an immigration lawyer to help us with the whole process so he has access to all of the GCKey bits, so all we can see is the updated online status which is what I am referring to in my question! I myself am the Canadian, sponsoring my partner who is English, we aren't married but are common-law! So fingers crossed we get some good news soon :) thanks!!

There is this letter that I received through GCKey, form IMM5801, which is an invitation to use pre-arrival services. They are meant to help new residents with settling in: searching for jobs, that type of stuff. This is, supposedly, one of the tell-tale signs of your application approaching completion, but mine came before I even got an invitation to a medical. Considering nothing has happened since (it's been more than 3 weeks), I am inclined to think it inconsequential (although in the grand scheme of things I suppose it's also a good sign).
I also wonder how long it is going to take now..London office must be one of the busier ones.
Good luck and hopefully there will soon be some good news.

Your file has moved VERY quickly so far and if you think a three week wait is a sign that a previous step was inconsequential, your expectations are at odds with reality.

May application to DM in early august is quick. Period.
