Hello guys, I was denied boarding my flight on June 27th on the premise of getting a secondary confirmation from a “discretionary group” from Canada, I was told without this confirmation I would not be allowed to enter the plane, the response from the group came 3 hours after my flight had left and I was told I could only travel 4 weeks before my classes start. Now the problem is that my student visa would have expired by then. Any advice please?

Background info:
-I already have a visa and acceptance letter from my school
-My school is a registered DLI
-My program starts September but I won’t be able to enroll until mid august.
- I was denied boarding in Abuja international airport in Nigeria

Please is this secondary check only happening in Nigeria or what? or has anyone else in Nigeria had a similar experience recently?
Wow... I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate predicament. The entire confusion about who can travel to Canada is from the IRCC and CBSA. The goal post is always moving, they tell the airlines one thing and the airlines interpreted it as something else so they put measures that are not required in place.
Here are a few tips that comes to my mind for the future.

1. Before anyone books a ticket, kindly visit the airline's offices and find out exactly what is acceptable to enable boarding.

2. You may want to consider flying from Ghana, because I hear that Nigerian airport authorities are also doing their best to frustrate people who want to travel out of the country.

All the best.

My lovely people, I have a question. I applied for canada study permit since 10th of April, biometric done on 15th of April yet I have not hear from them, could it be is because I have not done medical causing delay? I also raised a web form on Saturday asking why my application is delay and also notifying them of my full school fees payment. Please advice me

If you are attending Fall, you’ll hear from them before August. Upfront medical exam doesnt speed up processing time and without upfront medical exam do not delay the processing time

Thats a entry requirement for temporary status holder provided they do not fall under “discretionary group”. Arriving more than 4 weeks before your study is considered “too early” and the airline was right in applying that rule. You would face questioning at POE if Airlines issued boarding pass. I would advice you to wait until before 4weeks. Changing country of departure may bring other problem “ they already have record of your first attempt to Canada”. You’ll need to apply for new TRV or travel close to the expiration provided it is 4 weeks before

My current TRV took about 8 months to get because of COVID I don’t think applying again would be an option, I can’t travel 4 weeks before without travelling with an expired visa. As far as I know it’s just something they’re meant to look at and understand my case.

I doubt if upfront medical is the issue. A lot of people have complained about the inconsistencies in Canada Visa processing. But I am sure they will give u feedback before 6th August. You can also check your status to see if anything has changed. Especially if they have started the eligibility process. However, if you haven't done medicals, you may consider booking for upfront medicals if u can afford the N45k risk. If not you may run the risk of not getting an appointment date close enough. Available dates I hear are now from August.

I suggest you try to contact ircc and see what you should do as I think your situation is quite unique.

Goodday@omofar,
It's been a while. I hope all is well and good. I intend to write a rebuttal letter to tackle the reasons the VO stated for the refusal of my SP. Can I write the rebuttal letter within my new letter of intent or do I write a totally separate letter. Also is there any other letter you would recommend include in my application?, Apart from the afforementioned ones. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Afrank,

I would prefer to make the job of the Visa officer easier. So I suggest you find a way to merge both letters into one and its should not be more than 1,500 words or 3 pages.

Wisbung you the very best.
