Hello,

I just want to check how does VO checks this rule “your co-op placement or internship totals 50% or less of your study program”

do they check this by the number of co-op terms and regular study terms? Or is it more specific than this?

Thank you.

When you apply you submit a letter from the school which tells the visa officer how long the COOP takes. In my case it said 4 months and it was a 2 year programme.

Thanks for your reply. In my case, I am in a 2 year program which has 4 regular terms. But i was accepted in a co-op term that will take 2 terms. So in total, 4 regular terms plus 2 co-op terms. Will there be a problem?

So in total the internship is 8 months?

Yes, correct
As long as it isn't more than 50% then you are fine, as it is 16 months in actual school time, and then you have 8 months in COOP you will be fine. If it was 9 or 10 months in a COOP term then it would be an issue.

Got it. Thanks. So they are basing it on the number of months of each terms.
