No, what I was expecting is a civil discussion without judgments and resentment towards my post. Some people here took it as far as to say I want my FIL to flout mandatory HOME quarantine. WTF?! People need to calm down and read my post again and more carefully. I don't need any responses to support my post, I need responses talking about a SIMILAR experience and if it was a good or bad idea or if it was POSSIBLE or IMPOSSIBLE to decline the 3-day hotel stay in the first place. I don't need to be lectured here, I've done my homework and I'm fully aware about the increase in fines to 5K.
Want to commend you for getting an airbnb for your father. See many still quarantining with family members or friends. Most are not quarantining in a basement with access to a bathroom and hopefully a kitchen or small makeshift kitchen to minimize any exposure from opening a door. This is unfortunately why we have community spread of the delta variant. The government finally updated the quarantine rules which was still allowing people to share a bathroom with non-travelers relatively recently. The last wave and new variants have finally resulted in some changes.
