Hi everyone,

I am a skilled worker (NOC Code B) and I am planning to apply for my wife's Open work permit, who is India right now. She is currently working as a manager in a company for almost 6 years now.

I have my offer letter, employer verification letter, 3 pay stubs and $15000+ in my account.

My questions is:

Does my wife need to show any proof of funds? I will be attaching her offer letter, promotion letters and last 6 months pay slips. Does she need some minimum balance in her Indian account for this application?

For now she has around $2000 in her account + I have $15000 + in mine. Would that be fine? I have heard that you don't need proof of funds if you apply for SOWP with a Skilled worker.

Please clarify
Thanks,

The more information and evidences you will provide it will help your application. Property of your wife needs to be shown in the form of strong evidence that your wife has engagements in the home country and in the event of expiration of open work permit you will return to your home country. It’s better to have sufficient amount in your and your spouse’s account. All these things simply make your case strong

I went through the similar experience. These things helped my application and received approval in 1st attempt.

She doesn't own a property but she is currently working there (from 6 years) + has all her education from there (secondary and bachelors). She has her family also there.

Also, for the funds, is there a minimum amount that should be there?
I was thinking around $18000 in my account and around $4000 in hers. Do we need 6 months statements or is a bank letter and her pay stubs enough?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Bank letter for her would be enough for funds... there is no criteria for keeping minimum amount but the maximum you can show would be better. Show her strong connection with parents.

So a bank letter would be enough? we don't need 6 months statement (almost 12-15 pages) of her account right?

FSW Outland (India) here. I called IRCC for status of my application. looks like criminality is complete but security is not started. Re- med assessment is also not started. Is Security started only after medical is passed?

Hello! Just talked to CIC. They told me I passed elegibility and criminality, only security is pending. Also I retook the medical exams and passed again. When only security is missing how long it can take? Thanks for your replies! I am very anxious in this 14th month anniversary of my AOR.

Yeah, but my situation is bit different, my close work permit is getting expired on 28th May, 2021 and my employer has asked me that if the decision is not being made for my application by that time then I have to go back to home country.
If you request a work permit extension before it expires, your boss will not support you?

@legalfalcon , Hello sir. My spouse appeared for the remedical for traveling as requested by IRCC . In e-medical sheet its written medical type STUDENT inplace of WORKER by mistake by the clinic. I have to upload that medical sheet for the PR application too. Should it be a concern in the type of medical ?

It will not be an issue. What matter is the Immigration Medical Exam (IME), which will be used to identify the medical records. You can include a LoE and inform of the error.

I received COPR this week. A big thanks to this forum for helping each other, especially @legalfalcon. Folks who are still stuck, my sincere best wishes to you. I hope you too receive COPR very soon.

My timeline: Mar 4, 2020 CEC inland. My file was approved in Aug 2020 but nobody touched it until late Apr 2021 when my medicals were extended.

In case it helps others in similar situation, I took one action that I think helped. I am not sure though, it could be just a coincidence that an officer decided to act on my application on their own around the same time:
In Mar 2021, I ordered the GCMS notes and noticed that my file was sitting approved since Aug 2020. I wrote a letter to visa officer, politely asking to finalize my application. I highlighted that my file was approved and listed the expired COPR number (that was generated in Aug 2020 but was never issued), signed the letter and uploaded through webform. Soon there after my medicals were extended and my file was transferred to local VO. After a couple of weeks, I received call to confirm I am in Canada and then received the COPR.

Before sending this letter, I asked visa officers to act on my application multiple times directly using the webform. But I just got the standard generic replies. Reaching out to local MPs and immigration minister did nothing.

Hi congratulations, how did you send letter to visa officer? I mean how you could upload the letter to webform but in a way that your vida officer read that
