Je suis bilingue, mais je préfère anglais car c'est ma langue natale. Malheureusement, il n'y avait pas d'éspace à mentionner dans l'application

Even then, extraordinary claims (which yours is) requires extraordinary evidence.
i do not know what that means, i do not speak the frog language but if you do thenyou will get ur oath very soon. Mostly likely in 2 months.

Hi!
I'm from Montreal and was invited on December 18th and I just passed the online test today. It was about time, my application had been sent in August 2019, in progress since November 2019... Many people who sent their applications after mine are already citizens because they passed their tests before covid, very unfair...

Lol I passed my test in January and I'm still in process. Sit back and relax if you do not speak French.

Federal offices like IRCC are different than provincial offices, and at Federal level English and French are treated the same way. Personally, I can speak both English and French, I submit only my English test though just because it was the one I used when I submit my PR (at that time I was out of Quebec), and I wanted make the life easier for them.

If they want to prioritize people who prove to be able to speak French, I can understand the reasons and I can agree with that statement, but they would need to say it explicitly on their website requirements; then, I would be more than available to provide proofs of all document they need. :)

In any case, I know a few French speakers (from France, and not only) who applied for citizenship with their French tests, and non of them seemed to have been fast-tracked for speaking French, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

French speakers are only fast tracked in IRCC offices in Quebec not other province.

Due to COVID-19

  • we can’t process applications normally and can’t give accurate processing timesfor most types of applications
    • if you contact us, our Client Support Centre agents do not have additional information on processing times
  • we can’t give you more information than what is already available in the Client Application Status tool
  • Currently none of the vaccines are effective on our staff, covid has blocked our offices

I don't think there is any fast tracking either. The agent that have your file on his desk has a lot to do with how long your application will take. Some get things done, some take their sweet time and some don't even know your file is there. It purely depends on how lucky you are unfortunately.
I speak both languages fluently by the way. I have even done degrees in both of them.

Anyone from Montreal received a test invite in the last couple of weeks? Just wondering if this office is still working or fast asleep
Montreal office is dead. It got infected with Covid 19 and passed away last year. I called Cic today the agent said your file is in process and it could take another 6 months to year. My file is Montreal office since august 2019 .

^ This. I have anecdotally heard of people here and there getting their test invites, but it seems to be moving much slower than the other offices.

Well unfortunately the cic Montreal or Quebec agents prefer to process the application of french speaking applicants faster or as priority, this is Quebec rule. They want more french speaking as citizens or PR than Anglophones.
Since CIC is a federal agency and the agents are federal employees, I'd question that assumption.

Also, for whatever is worth, I filed in July 2019, in French, and haven't been called for an online test either, so there you have it. I have friends who filed in April and May 2019, as well, same thing.

Conspiracy theories are easy to come up with and they apparently help some people cope with what is a stressful wait for everyone, but ultimately they mean nothing.

It's not even moving . I wonder how many applicants are here from Montreal and what percentage recieved test invites , DM and oath . Most applicants I see are either from the west coast or Ontario.

I'm a July 2019 applicant from Montreal, passed the test April 16th.

ECAS hasn't updated since AOR in October 2019.

The pandemic has slowed everything down, I've been working from home for over a year for the first time in 20 years working.

Nobody was prepared for this but it's happened and as a result everything has slowed to a halt, you should know from the PR process that communication from CIC is slow at best.

Be patient. Filling the forum with conspiracies and unfounded claims only confuses things for a bunch of people who are already nervous.
