Very peculiar query regarding 'Employment Reference Letter'

Hello All,

I have worked for 4.5 years between March 2016 till August 2020.

Due to covid, my current employer hasn't been able to provide me with work nor salary, after August 2020. Technically i am still employed since i am on waiting list.
I work for a shipping company where they have put a lot of people on waiting list, but due to travel restrictions and slow down in the economy, They are not able to provide employment for sometime.

He is willing to write me a letter in two formats,

A)
This is to certify that Mr. XYZ, Holder of passport No.Z44XXXX was employed by us in the capacity of Third Engineer onboard their vessels since 11th March 2016 till 16th August 2020.


B)
This is to certify that Mr. XYZ, Holder of passport No.Z44XXXX IS CURRENTLY employed by us in the capacity of Third Engineer onboard their vessels since 11th March 2016 till DATE!


Since i have my last salary credited in the month of August 2020 and i have salary slip which is almost 8 month old, do you think i should go option A ?

I believe it is a more simple manner. However it makes me appear unemployed currently. However even during the last 8 months, i have been constantly working on my skills, doing courses and other small professional workshops. i have certificates to show i was being 'productive'.

It will be hard to prove that i am still employed when they are not giving me any salaries....if you get me?


There is further an option

C)
Where i take a letter in option B.

And explain this in my letter of explanation, that due to travel restrictions, i haven't been able to resume my duty and hence i haven't been paid.

So lets keep it simple...Simply go for letter A and show that i have left the company.

and i am currently applying for PR and sharpening my skills?

The Visa officer is least concerned about my current employment status, am i correct?

Yes Letter A. The VO will not know you are "sharpening" your skills unless you take another degree, learn French, or improve your IELTS scores that will increase your CRS score.

1) In my express entry profile, i mention my employment from march 2016 to august 2020.
