Could you please help me with this? I’m about to apply online for an open work permit but I don’t really know if I need a medical exam or not. I’m currently in Canada and I previously applied for a bridging open work permit on the paper based. According to the checklist for paper based Medical exam is not included. The processing time for work permit is only 60 days right now and I’m wondering if this includes medical exam.

No, you don’t need to do medical for work permit application. It’s not mandatory.

I think both of us are stuck on the same stage which is "security check", just because our last name, first name, similar to others who also came from Vietnam, so they have to do a long security check to make sure we're not the other person but same name and last name.

Maybe you are correct. I and my husband each have 2 Police checks as we worked in another country before moving here and we travelled to many countries during the last 10 years. Be positive, we will get there !

Still no updates of medical received yet......

called ircc earlier and the agent said it’s on the system already and she tells me to wait.
Anyone in the same boat? Or any idea how long does it take for approval to get the med pass?

I had familiar timeline to you, but I've not had any Ghost Update since medical passed on Feb08, 2021
The only different I've found is that you had Medical Request, I didn't, just went upfront.

I've seen applicant, who had Medical Request, have DM and COPR within 2-3 weeks after medical passed.

You can call IRCC to inquire your application status, especially Security check status.
