Can an immigration sponsor withdraw from his/her sponsorship undertaking or appoint someone else to become personally and financially responsible for the sponsored person, i.e. within the 10-year undertaking period?

The sponsored person is already in Canada and is already a Canadian citizen. I am wondering if his sponsor can relinquish his/her financial undertaking before the 10-year undertaking is finished, or if the sponsor can transfer/assign the financial obligation to the newly appointed guardian (of the sponsored person).

One of the reasons people need to think hard about sponsoring in-laws.
