AOR: March 5
Medical passed April 16
Biometrics: August 4
VO: Ottawa case processing center

Hello everyone,
It's been exactly one year and two days since my AOR. And there's nothing new. Even the webform replies are not detailed anymore, they just say that my application is still in process.
I almost gave up all hope :( this is so deeply frustrating!
Who's in the same boat as me?
I'm. CEC Inland 18 March AOR. Still waiting.

I have submitted both BOWP application in December and OWP under public policy in March. Both are currently ongoing. Will processing of the application submitted in March be put on hold until the BOWP application from December is processed, or would they be processed simultaneously/randomly ?

@legalfalcon
IRCC has the policy to reduce duplicity of work, so they will not process both, instead they will process the one that came in first and until that is done, the other will be kept on hold. At one point of time you can only have one WP application in progress.

Only IRCC has the answer to this question that we're all asking.

Hey folks, wanted to ask if medical expires after one year from the date the medical was done or the date the medical was passed. In my case example I gave my medical in March 2020 and it was passed on my profile in May 2020, when will it expire- march or may?

Received GCMS notes today (request Feb 2nd).
The only difference I noticed is previous (Dec 2nd) was 145 pages, this one (Mar 8th), 205.
Majority of the pages added are blank.
I've read blank/redacted pages are security related, does that mean security/criminality is done? (hope) (no change in any status in page 2)

Thankyou all for being active in this form and providing very relevant information to everybody stuck together. I have a query @legalfalcon . thanks for your help in advance.
I applied under CEC inland and my spouse is outland and secondary applicant on my file. Both our medical expired as of March beginning. My wife is presently in city where she can have her re-medical done. Then she will move and she will have to drive 8 hours if and when we get re-medical request. I was thinking to get her medical done in advance if and one IRCC ask for one.
1. Is it possible to do one without a re-medical request? If yes then what should we say " just need an upfront medical for PR. The one for Non-EDE, worker"
2. What's the chances for re-medical according to present processing scenario? (my profile changed to we don't need a medical from passed)

My AOR is March 22, 2020. Everything was done but my Wife's Biometrics got delayed until Feb 25, 2021 as she is in India. So my file shows Criminality in process and Background yet to start. I applied for Wife's visitor visa but they put processing on hold saying travel is optional and 0 movement in the file after submission but they are not rejecting it as if now. Most likely they will.

1. Do you think I should apply for wife's BOWP and that have better chance of approval sooner compared to time my PR file may take.
2. Should I take back my visitor visa application as it will take more time than expected?
3. If and when I apply for BOWP for her, Do I need to mention I applied for Visitor visa but retracted my application (if I do) for so and so reason.
4. My own Open work permit is expiring on 28th June, 2021. If needed I will have to file an extension in early June. Can I apply for Wife's SOWP in the same file as my BOWP application.
5. If I can apply together or cant, Is it better to go for BOWP right now and try for SOWP to bring her in asap or wait for PR application status and go for it in June.

@legalfalcon

1. Yes, you can get a medicals done on your own without IRCC sending you a request for re-medicals. The process is the same as you did last time, and once done, you can send the upfront medicals sheet to IRCC visa webform.

2. See my post shared before at #6,100

3. Processing of SWOP / TRV are discretionary. If your request to process the TRV was refused, you can try again and highlight that your family is exempt under extended family exemption.

4. The visitor's visa application will continue o be pending until you submit your bomatircs and the travel restrictions are eased. Instead you can submit a new request to seek exemption and ask for processing.

5. In the application forms you will be asked whether you have applied to IRCC before, you can explain there if you withdraw your TRV.

6. the process for filing an application for applicants in Canada and outside Canada is different, so make sure you comply with that. You can surely apply for SOWP along with your extensions.

7 . PR applications may take longer, and there is no deadline as such. So if you can apply fora different visa, you can try.

Hi all,
First, I am grateful for this forum. Thank you all! It is the one thing that has been helpful during this trying time of endless wait without any reasonable justification from IRCC.

I am CEC (inland) AOR Mar 4 2020. Like some of the others on this forum, my application is stuck and the Webform responses are generic messages. I called IRCC few times and the agents told me that my application is "waiting to be finalized". When I asked agents say that it means it is waiting for a visa officer to finalize the application (whatever that means). The application has been "waiting to be finalized" for at least six months when I first called IRCC.

My life situation is difficult as it is and this indefinite wait is making it much worse.

I have reached out to my MP, they said they'll reach out to IRCC to get an update but I am not sure if IRCC will give them a generic reply too. I also reached out to the minister of immigration but got a vague automated message, not even sure if they'll look at my request.

I have ordered GCMS notes, about 30 days ago, still waiting to receive them.

I have also submitted a compliant against IRCC under "Services > Processing Procedures" that they need to at-least provide a meaningful updates to Webform requests and when applications will be finalized.

Seeing recent updates from IRCC that they are processing May applications making me lose all hope.

At this point, I have decided to file a writ of Mandamus. My questions are:
  1. Is 1 year delay without any meaningful updates from IRCC sufficient to justify a Mandamus? My application is not complex per IRCC definition. It was complete, including biometrics and medicals on time (before pandemic). I got no requests for additional docs or anything from IRCC.
  2. How long does a typical Mandamus take to finish?
  3. Has anyone in this forum successful gone through the process (or know someone who has) and willing to share their experience? Does anyone have recommendations for a good lawyer in GTA (Toronto area)?
Perhaps some of the senior folks like @legalfalcon @caipsnotes who may have experience with Mandamus can shed some light.

Thank you all.
