Good afternoon! I need to fly to Toronto asap from London(UK) to help a friend in need. I am not an extended family member therefore I cannot apply for compassionate reasons. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could I do? I really need to go to Canada. I was thinking of maybe applying to a University and get a student visa or a temporary work visa. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! I hope you are all well!

Unfortunately you can’t enter Canada ASAP. Processing for study permit involves applying and getting accepted to a university and then applying for a study permit. This takes months and you need to show a lot of funds. You are not eligible for a temporary work permit unless you get a job offer with LMIA and then apply for a closed work permit. This can take up to a year. If the IEC was open that could be an option but processing is over a year too. Sorry I have no positive ideas.

Neither of these are feasible for asap travel. Student visas take months to process and require you to be admitted to a program in Canada first. Temporary work permit requires a job offer from an employer in Canada and an approved LMIA (6 month process).

What is your relationship to this person? Are you in a relationship? Something else? Are you a UK passport holder?

Thank you very much! I guess I don’t have any options at all right?
Thank you

Thank you

Based on the limited information you have provided, you have no options to enter Canada at this time.

I am a professional violinist. Would that help to ask for specific permission?

No - that won't help at all.

What is your relationship with the person you're trying to visit? Just a friend? Something else?

Just a friend.

In that case it is not possible for you to travel to Canada at this time.

You will need to wait until travel restrictions have been lifted.

It's likely going to be a number of more months before this happens.

Your application needs to be for a genuine and essential reason, there is a reason for travel restrictions

Could I apply for a teaching visa? If I happen to be book to give a lecture at a University? It happens often for musicians.

I don't know what you mean by a teaching visa.

You would need a work permit if you want to work in Canada as a teacher or lecturer. In order to qualify for a work permit, you need a job offer in Canada. Do you have a job offer? Best case scenario you're looking at several months to get a visa after you get a job offer.

I'm going to be brutally honest with you. You're grasping at straws and need to accept that you can't travel to Canada at this time.

I think OP thinks they can get one of those teaching visas in places like Cambodia and teach English
