Suggest you to read the previous posts aligned with mine to get the clear picture so as to interpret it right.

@blackrabbitqueen said the ones who did not book an accommodation were taken to far off places to hotels not on the list and she said she wasn't not let known of the prices.

I posted a speculation of what the prices would be using that articles link inclusive of speculating the future prices where the main highlight was that Trudeau said even if the ones who landed at the POE without an accommodation will be charged in the near future.

One has to pay the amount no matter what (speculatively ranging from 800 to 2000$).

**FOR PEOPLE ARRIVING WITHOUT A GOVERNMENT RESERVERD ACCOMMODATION ONLY**

https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/coronavirus/2021/2/10/1_5304344.html

"For now, those quarantining have been staying in the isolation sites free of charge, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that will soon change, and no official date has been set for when travellers will be picking up the bill."

Suggest people to have their money ready for quarantine even if they did not manage to book the hotel through the line.
It's unclear whether it will be free or will cost money but either way in the upcoming weeks the government clearly plans to make everyone pay.

So far only @blackrabbitqueen is the only source who travelled from the US seems to have a different story and it's still vital that you book a hotel through the line. What applies to one may not apply to another.

Hi, i have booked directly with embassy suites, hilton and they confirmed that this reservation is part of the government initiative. They charged me 349 CAD per night and i did get a confirmation email from noreply@hilton.com which has a confirmation number. I used this confirmation number as reference no on ArriveCAN. Not sure if i did the right thing, but im fed up with the toll free number

Only HRG must be uploaded onto the ArriveCan.

I was finally able to book my hotel, thank you so much for all the help offered to me, just an advice that I want to give out, I didn’t call at 8am ET, I called 6:30am ET and then I was answered at 8:30am ET, so don’t be scared to call before their official opening time, even though they say you’re meant to stay on the line if your flight is in the next 24hrs, don’t hang up, I’ll be traveling on the 20th of March, the lady that attended to me was really nice and didn’t reject my call, maybe it’s my luck, but don’t be scared. The hotel I’ll be staying at is the Comfort Inn at the rate of $225/per night, Fairfield was way more expensive, it was at the rate of $305/per night, i didn’t ask for the prices of the others since she just went straight to the point and asked me if i wanted the cheapest rates available, I told her yes. There is no shuttle from the airport to the hotel, it’ll be a taxi that will take me but the hotel will cover the cost, and it’s 3meals per day, I’m not too sure if the COVID test is included, I plan to call the hotel and ask. Good luck everyone!

This claim has no basis yet. Nowhere officially it's written there needs to be an HRG number or whatever. I see lots of people on various groups able to book it directly through hotels. These people have confirmed with the Hotel that this booking is legitimate. As the government contact number is overwhelmed, they have apparently offloaded this to hotels.

However, we will only know what's the truth once they reach there. I believe Hotels wouldn't risk doing such a blunder if they weren't sure. I don't know why this person is hellbent on proving otherwise without any official statement. I could be wrong but I don't have anything official to cite otherwise, so I'd trust the Hotels.

Congrats! From some accounts of people who have reached, they weren't charged for the tests. So yeah most probably there are no charges.

That's a great price! nice --- happy for you. Better to take a taxi than a bus crammed in with a bunch of people too.
