There are full 4 hotels listed for Toronto. And the booking can be only made via phone. I tried calling and it's not functional. Govt seems totally unprepared for this action.

Only one hotel in Vancouver, that too an expensive one. Other locations still have some options to choose. Any one here going to Vancouver, would like to know the total price.

Mandatory hotel stay is only for people who travelled by air for non essential reason such as vacation. Also, travelling for study is considered essential provided the Uni is in DLI.

I think students will not have to book hotels for the 3 day mandatory stay. Its still foggy as hell.

Hello! Does it mean that we don't have any confirmation yet as to whether students are required to book?

Information is scattered all over the place right now. One can never tell what's what anymore. Maybe give it some time to get cleared? Idk.
I'll try to raise a question in the official Twitter of IRCC tomorrow. Maybe they'll answer there or maybe some form of official documentation or announcement will get posted tomorrow.

It's not about money. Taiwan and NZ handled coronavirus the best. Didn't require a big bang 3 day 2000$ plan. There are other superior methods to contain the virus instead of just focussing on money quarantining. Quarantine officers are being buffoons sometimes; allowing in people with expired PCR tests and are being fine with people roaming during the mandatory quarantine window.

Hi all, what do you understand from below statement?
I copied it from https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/isolation

edit: this topic was under " Essential reasons: quarantine exemption list "

"
Cross-border students and people driving them

  • A student who is enrolled at an approved designated learning institution, who attends that institution regularly and who enters Canada to go to that institution, as long as the government of the province and the local health authority of the place where that listed institution is located have indicated to the Public Health Agency of Canada that the listed institution is approved to accommodate students who are excepted from paragraph 3(1)(a) and section 4
  • A driver of a vehicle who enters Canada to drop off or pick up a student who is attending an approved designated learning institution, as long as the driver only leaves the vehicle while in Canada, if at all, to escort the student to or from the listed institution and they wear a mask while outside the vehicle
  • A student who is enrolled at an educational institution in the United States, who attends that educational institution regularly and who enters Canada to return to their habitual place of residence after attending that educational institution, if they will not directly care for persons 65 years of age or older within the 14-day period that begins on the day on which the person enters Canada
  • A driver of a vehicle who enters Canada after dropping off or picking up a student who is enrolled at an educational institution in the United States at that institution, and who enters Canada to return to their habitual place of residence after dropping off or picking up the student from that institution, as long as the driver only leaves the vehicle while outside Canada, if at all, to escort the student to or from the institution and they wore a mask while outside the vehicle

That’s just for border students. Eg., you live in a town several km from the border and travel across to study frequently.

I can’t see price information there. Nothing else is included. Only hotel lists are shown.

Man, they already screwed up.

With a HUGE delay, just a telephone number and a list of a few hotels has been posted. Oh, and mentioning "travelers" have to book it. They didn't post any further clarification. They could have added exemptions or specified on WHO exactly has to book. "Travelers" can mean too much!!
They could have just said "ALL international travelers, whether it is a returning Canadian, an international student,.. Etc" but no, still foggy as hell. That's the way to go.
I am flying around March 4 and I'm uncertain and anxious.

I am feeling sorry for the people flying on Feb 22 or 23...

I don’t think there are exemptions. The other pages have been updated and there is no mention of students being exempted.

The 1-800 is jokes. Hi this isn’t the 1980’s.

So many questions remain.
Cost, food choices, how to get to the hotel in the first place, what do you show immigration or your airline?

i can’t wait to see the reviews.
