Agree. They should invite all inlanders regardless of the program.

Wow, this is quite the surprise! Not the focus on CEC, but the clearing out of the pool. Congrats to all CECs who were drawn today. I assume some people are in for quite the shock when they wake up. 
Us FSWs will have to wait and see what this means. I wonder what this will do to the processing of existing apps, such as mine. And of course to future outland draws. What a time to be a Canadian immigration applicant!

It's quite possibly a bad time to try and do anything major right now. This pandemic has really shaken things up. I hope we see an end to at least most of it this year.
A few weeks back, there was a massive debate between FSW and CEC, with a few CEC folks raising hue and cry (to the extent of whining and directing flaming messages towards FSW guys).
I'd say it's pretty bad news for the FSW applicants today, it indicates that the Canadian government will focus on the applicants with Canadian experience and may tighten the policy for FSWs.
If IRCC really meant to stand by their immigration targets in the coming years — 400k invites in a year, then they won’t reach it with CEC applicants alone. They cleared the 27k CEC from the pool, so they have to tap the FSW pool eventually.
No. Not invites in the year. Immigrants in a year. One invite = average 3 people(family). Also there are many more other streams. Family sponsorship, refugees, paper based streams etc.
Got it. Thanks for correcting me. If one invite = 3 people, that’s 51k immigrants already, almost half of their target for federal highly skilled for 2021.

Plus those who was invited in 2020 and waiting. If they process all the backlog plus this Huge CEC draw I believe they will be able to meet the targets (or be very close to it)

I feel so sorry for all FSW applicants . 2021 only gets worse than 2020., Just when we all feel hopeful. I can feel your pain and anger, but please do have plan b. immigration to Canada is not going to be easy going forward.
I can only imagine what the IRCC agents and officers might feel like when they see this massive draw — “How are we suppose to process this and meet our KPIs?”
