Hello,

I've replaced my passport just before moving to Canada (in April 2016). I've landed here on a work permit in Dec. 2016; became a PR in Oct. 2018 and am now getting ready to submit my citizenship application.

However, I was unexpectedly asked to provide the old (original) passport - as it's validity overlaps, if just slightly, with the 5 year eligibility period. While I was able to find a scan of the picture page in old sent e-mail, I no longer have access to the document - the (already invalid) document was likely lost in my parents' move back in the birth country. If I proceed to submit my citizenship application, stating the passport # but saying that I've never brought it to Canada with me, and there were no travels made using it that are in any way relevant to the application (as it all happened before landing to Canada), and finally while technically it's lost, it had already been made invalid (holes were punched through it at the police) - should I expect to have any problems, or even get an RQ?

There is a way to avoid the whole situation I guess by simply waiting 2 more months, at which point the 5 year period will not include that old passport, but I was really excited to submit now and am a bit disappointed. Would love to hear from any folks who had a similar situation.
