Would I be able to sponsor my spouse with my PR card with me in India?
Or do i need to be in Canada to sponsor my wife
Since both of us are in India and i got married recently, I would prefer to travel back with her.

Any inputs on this would be appreciated

PRs cannot sponsor spouses from outside of Canada.

You must be living in Canada to sponsor your spouse.

Just curious...
1.The PR card address that i had given is still active and my friend resides there. I would technically be applying from that address. Would they really know if I am inside or outside Canada?
2.If I were to apply from Canada should I be inside during the entire period or can i apply from there and fly back or something?
3.How long does the spousal sponsorship take in the current period?

Thanks much for your info!

1. You're basically asking about misrepresentation (lying in an immigration application). I can't help you if that's what you want to do. They have access to flight manifests and know far more than you think they know. You'll be asked to provide employment records and other such information that will make it obvious you are outside of Canada. If you plan to fake this information as well, you'll be flirting with a misrepresentation ban for your spouse. They aren't stupid and you won't be the first person who has tried something like this. Of course it's your life.
2. You should be inside Canada for most of the application processing time. You can take trips outside of Canada to visit your spouse. However if you're living and working outside of Canada, expect a refusal. You are required to be living in Canada when the application is submitted and while it's being processed.
3. Approximately 12 months although hard to say with COVID.
