Q: Never heard about this procedure. IRCC started something virtual landing. May be a part of that.
A: I was talking with my friend yesterday and he shown his letter from IRCC for photograph to get PR card. The letter stated the CoPR document number. His ITA and AOR are post lockdown i.e. is May 2020 and he is in Canada applied through CEC express entry

Q: I am still confused why your procedure is different from mine. You could have landed in Canada.
A: I received approval just a week before March 18th, so I did not have the required documents to land. IRCC held on to my passport for two months and sent back with out PRV and CoPR, mentioned that my PR application is still open and I will receive an update once my spouse is able to come. Rest is normal, I have been sending them that my souse is ready to come.

Q: IRCC never force you to land together
A: I believe the same, but with all the circus which is happening the world I do not want to make unnecessary somersaults. ;)

Even for IRCC, it is hard to keep track of all these issues faced by people from different countries with this kind of volatility in policy making over travel. Hope everything cools down soon for all

Have a great day,
Krishna
Got to know some new stuff from you.
Yes landing together is always better even during normal times.

Thanks

I know. @crackMBA is keeping me going right now and it's not an exaggeration.
Thank you @hypervariate123. Much appreciated.
I feel good in giving a helping hand to others as no one is an expert. I have been through this and still going on. I would also expect this from others also those who have got the AL or COPR.
I know few personally(don't want to share names) who would not bother to reply at your messages or DMs even when they have been through same phase.
So, I know the feeling.

Anyways, we will conquer this.

Pulling back to my previous conversation, in Aug 2020, I raised a concern to our fellow members about my business situation, due to which I'm stuck in UAE, and not in a position to travel to Canada, until end of 2021. My CoPR was issued on Jan 2020 and expired by July 2020. With the recent update in IRCC page for Covid as of 31st Dec 2020 (Check below IRCC status for Ref), it has been mentioned that for applicants who have expired CoPR, living outside Canada and issued prior to 18th March, shall be contacted and would be asked if they are ready to come. My concern is that if they ever contact, what will be the impact to my profile if I say that I'm not in a position to visit now but later. What are the chances that I won't be allowed for the next time? Members kindly guide me.

IRCC Statement

Approved permanent resident applicants with expired and expiring COPR and permanent resident visa who are outside Canada
You’re exempt from the travel restrictions, but can’t travel to Canada unless your documents are re-issued, if

  • we approved your permanent resident application on or before March 18, 2020, and
  • we issued you a confirmation of permanent resident document that is expired or about to expire
We’ll contact you (if we haven’t already) to ask you if you’re able to travel to Canada now, to live and settle here. Once we approve you to come to Canada, we’ll issue you the documents you need to travel.

Thanks & Regards
Vimalan
I remember this conversation. I would say just wait for the email and see what they have mentioned. Till now IRCC is not forcing anyone to travel within next 60 days. They are giving them an option but everything has a limit. They may not be able to extend after a certain limit.

Approved in November 2020
Valid till first week March 2021.

My medical validity is also first week March 2021, while validity for dependents in November 2021.
I do not have any idea about applications approved after 18th March 2020 but as far as I know only COPR holders from US are exempted to travel if issued after March 18 2020. Others need to have a AL from IRCC.
Please check online or raise a web form.

Thanks. I'm feeling really hopeless losing almost 1 year of our life.
Yup. I now the feeling. It was same for my wife but can not do anything.
Things are getting better here in Canada as vaccination is in process. Market will open soon. Canada can not survive without immigrants. So you will definitely have a better future. 1 year wont affect your whole life span. :)

@crackMBA when you did your re-medicals, did they generate a new UMI for you, or did they use the UMI that was generated for your original medical test ? In our case, they created a new set of UMI numbers, wondering if that could be a reason for delay in updating the results in our profile. We had done our re-medicals on Dec 7th and still waiting for update in profile. Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I have no idea in this. Have not done re-med but I know a couple you did re-med sometime in Nov mid and got AL on Dec 23.

does that mean you have to move to Canada before March 21 or can you wait until later since your COPR is valid until Dec 21?
It means that you can travel with AL till March 21 with expired CoPR. If not then passport needs to be submitted again for re-stamping which is gonna take sometime.
