Hello everyone. Im able to check status using the online tool but it wont let me use GCkey. I received AOR. Will using the online tool still be able to update me with everything? Thanks
Most importantly in gckey you can get correspondence - so I would say it is important. (It does not seem consistent between all offices/officers to use gckey for correspondence instead of direct email - so your mileage may vary)

I had trouble getting in to gckey for some time but eventually trying different combinations of information worked. If nothing works, I guess you have to call them. (I never did get into ecas but decided that was only for some info and not critical. If it had gone on much longer perhaps I would have called to work out the issue)

Note: i found gckey to be almost useless for tracking progress - almost nothing was updated until visa and COPR actually issued, and then it said 'completed.' But for correspondence was very important.

Lovely. Because it will not let me in. All I have access to is the online tool and Im in China. Trying to contact them is almost impossible. Hope this works out well.

Apologies for venting out the frustration. No offence against any nationality here. The much more painful part and that you have to agree is that the people from other nationalities do not have the privilege of driving into Canada by just showing a Passport and eTA. They have no other choice but to wait to see their significant other until that Spousal Sponsorship Application is approved. Can't just go for a weekend or just take a 2-3 hours flight to see family. I hope my message is clear and you may ask any other person from those countries about how long they have to wait to see their spouse. They are even denied Visitor Visa while the sponsorship application is in progress so its just about that.

Peace. will not post anything out of frustration that hurts anybody's sentiments.;)
No offence taken, just wanted to clarify things so that people don't get the wrong impression of what is allowed to do. I understand the frustration that people have but it is the process and not much we can do but deal with it the best we can. Wishing you speedy processing!!

Can someone help me understand this. I am a June applicant. Received AOR December 4th. Since waiting for sponsor approval. My question is I cant use GCkey, but can use online tool and email. Will these both be ok to use for the full process of this?

Unfortunately that is a result of the countries themselves and therefore out of our control. The visitor visa exempt countries like the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and many others have spent many years building close ties with Canada, particularly when it comes to sharing information, which is why that privilege was granted.

Plus, these English speaking countries, along with other countries where English has a heavier influence, are not steeped heavily in culture and religion and have far less documentation they need to provide, particularly when it comes to the marriage itself and proving the genuineness of that marriage. Background checks are more difficult as well.

Trust me, as a Canadian I would love to see everyone have equal opportunity to visit and live here, but sadly the governments aren’t as quick to open their arms in welcome as we the people are.
