does POF letter have to be in English? Usually it's quite easy to understand in any language. Besides, IRCC was okay with a non-english bank statement when I applied for my study permit. Any experiences? Thanks.
Here's a page from a Canadian immigration law firm. It says, "Documents submitted must be in English or French. If they are not, you will need to have the documents translated by a certified translator". Hope that helps. :)

Below is a quote from the IRCC page about proof of funds.

For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you’re keeping money.

Letter(s) must
  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account, the
    • account numbers
    • date each account was opened
    • current balance of each account
    • average balance for the past 6 months
I would not go around interpreting that because it seems quite clear to me. Submit letters from all banks you bank with, and include all debts you have.

I submitted details for only one bank account I had. IRCC was aware of my second bank account since I had attached salary slips from that account, still faced no issues. But that was my personal experience

Cool. I just try and be as safe as possible with these things. :)

Thanks All..!

Background check is a combination of criminality and security checks. The criminality is where IRCC looks at your PCC. To see if you have a criminal record.

The security check is longer, where they look at things like your travel history. That is to determine if you are a risk to Canada in general.

Mine also says "in progress. It has for a long time. If you get in touch with IRCC, they differentiate between the two parts. But having said that, all they told me was what I stated in my previous comment - not yet started, and that I should be patient, because Covid is disrupting normal processing of applications.

I see, if you don't mind me asking, has your ETA already lapsed? or do you still have some more waiting to do before the ETA date?

ETA date is 10 Jan, so we're getting close.
Wow!! They might have started your BG check. You just don’t know it... have faith Gee. Your PPR will come before that date.

You're very kind. I hope we see some progress soon. :) I will keep everyone updated.

Got my second ghost update now. The only thing that's changed is that my application status section is now blank. It used to have info about the status, which said medicals passed for ages. That has now been removed.

It now just says, "We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you. Make sure you read your messages and take action when we ask you to. This will help move the application process along".

Perhaps they want to extend your medicals or something?

I hope it's much better news than that.

That's usually what happens. :)

One or both of your remaining checks are done.

PPR should be dispatched soon.
