Hello,

I am planning to get married to my boyfriend who is pr in canada from past 1 year. We are in relationship from past 4 years and we are living together since 8 months. My study permit expired on july31,2020. Due to covid i didn’t had any money to restore it or pay for my studies. Now, i am thinking if can apply for tourist visa and if i get that then we will get married. So, i want to know can we do that and can i stay in canada. Please let me asap.

Thankyou.

I assume that you have left Canada sicne you are applying for tourist visa, right?
If you 2 only lived together for 8 months, you are not common law.

Btw Canada does not have "spouse visa".

I am still in canada. I spoke with an immigration lawyer she said either i can apply for study permit or change my status to tourist visa in that case i will get time to stay in canada.

That's correct but isn't it too late to restore your status to visitor now? You were out of status since July this year. Anyway, work with your lawyer.

Suppose, if got new study permit or a visitor visa and then i will get married so what documents do i need for marriage and how much time the process will take? Can i apply for work permit or what can i do?

And also if my study permit or visitor visa got rejected can i still get married as i am out of status.

I do not have information about applying study permit or visitor visa inside Canada when you are out of status.
May be a question to your lawyer or in the international students section.
