Anyone who has recently applied for extension for visitor visa. Can you help with the following question.

Are you accompanying a family member that has status in Canada, or has recently been approved to come to Canada?
YES/NO ?

We submitted our inland spousal sponsorship application with OWP in july but haven't heard back about it yet.
No for, if you have a spouse, or other family member who is already a permanent of Canada and if nobody is coming with you.
Yes for, if you have a spouse, child, parents who are coming with you or if you are staying with a family memebers who has status like visitor, work or study permit. hope it helps.

And when does your visitor expire?. if you have applied in July you must have temporary file no,You are implied status until the decision on the work permit is made.. You don't need to apply if you don't want to.

my wife’s visitor visa expires in January. Yes , we have the temporary file number but in case if the application gets returnedfor any reason, she would be out of status.

Also, about my original question , since my wife is already in Canada nobody is accompanying anyone. The help text says something like, if the principle applicant is staying with - person with status, we need to select Yes. ( at least that’s what we understood ).

I'm also an implied status, mine expired in August. I will apply if some thing goes wrong, but it's an individual choice. If u want to apply ou can.
And here is what you can find what they meant by an accompanying family. It's on Canada.ca also.

Accompanying family member
Related term:
Accompanying dependant

"A spouse, common-law partner, dependent child or dependent child of a dependent child (grandchild), who plans to immigrate to Canada with the principal applicant. Accompanying family members are included on the application."

they don't refer PRs holder and citizens as a accompanying family member is that they don't need to apply any residential status in Canada. But they put visitor, work and study permit coz they will have to apply permanent status inorder to remain in Canada permanently. They get certain period of time to stay in Canada and if that document expires they will have to apply to extend or change. If they get denial, they will have to leave canada.
You can call them and ask to make sure. They will send all the informations to your email

I like I posted on the Top , yes if the visitor is your spouse and you ( the sponsor) are permanent resident or Canadian citizen , you should select yes. I am an immigration legal consultant student and I have go over this.

Guys, here someone from June 8 got work permit approval. She was saying the that her Sponsorship application only got returned, but not OWP and she resubmitted in Dec. I think they have started looking June's application. Hopefully ours are finally getting on the route to be processed soon, this month or next.

It appears that early-mid April is just getting their AOR according to the Spreadsheet, OWP app linking and approval is moving faster though, as Kumar125 stated, it sounds like they're looking at OWP applications from early June. We're probably looking at getting OWP linking/approval in January/February. Just gotta sit tight for little longer now.

Ya few guys from June 3,8 and 18 were stating that they have got OWP approval. There were many people from April are still left behind, and still waiting. And what about us, like im June first week, but still nothing yet. And someone from June itself was saying, that she got her Sponsorship app. returned and resubmitted in Dec, but the OWP app. was not returned. This is very strange to me how did they approved OWP without anything for Sponsorship application. I have called IRCC two weeks ago but I was told they would not issue me OWP until my PR application gets approved, but here how come they are issuing OWP for some people only, right. It's very hard to understand the way they are working, and they are not working on the application as per the date they received, they are going randomly and putting all of us frustrated and depression. IRCC really need to increase the quality of management, and transparency. And we only see lots of taking from minister and not doing anything.

I think perhaps that they're hoping to satiate people with work permits with the time being for how stretched out these wait times have been. It looks like someone in late July has had their app returned so there is movement of some sort happening. With the holidays and the pandemic (esp. with this new mutation), we're not going to see much going on until January at the least. But, this is just speculation. I'm just as frustrated as you and anxiety filled with each day I check the mailbox, hoping I don't see a returned application. The only thing we can really do is wait.

What we can do other than waiting right. I even went to MP office, IRCC wouldn't even would care our concerns. lets hope the hope..

Sounds like they got lucky and had someone assigned to their file who didn't want to ruin their lives by returning their entire application.

It's rare but some people get lucky and are assigned an officer who uses their discretion to mitigate the harshness of the standard operating procedures.

Hi guys! I applied for common-law here from Quebec. I have been here with my partner for 3 years now and we plan on living in QC. However, we want to go to BC for about one year, before we settle. Would it be a problem for MIDI that we moved to BC while our application is running?
