Online Citizenship tests... What’s next?

As we all know, IRCC started sending invitations for online citizenship tests but where are the interviews at? Are they canceled? Are they moving online too? Or was the bottleneck only shifted from the tests to the interviews?

Interview is optional hence one less thing to delay. Everything is now online/video hence there is no bottleneck completely except that the officers now need to return to work.

Do we also have to be physically present in Canada for the virtual interview and virtual oath?

For the test, they mentioned on the website that you have to be in Canada while taking it.
I don't know about the others though.

Yes, you have to be in Canada for the oath as well. I got invited for Oath which in my email states if I am in Canada then only I can take it.

It depends on each file and the dates they have for oath. Mine was really quick. I waited 5 days.

I used to think interviews were compulsory. Maybe it was just part of the package in person.

Thanks! I need to travel out of Canada soon. Just received my online test invitation. So i am planning on doing the test in Canada, and then doing the Oath in Canada. And then travelling.

Is there anything else that happens after the Oath that will require me to be physically in Canada? I plan on being outside of Canada for about a month.

Nothing, you can apply from a passport anywhere. But you do need to have one before coming back.

- I attempt the online citizenship test now while physically being present in Canada.

- I should receive the invitation for the Oath. It looks like the invitation will be received within a week of completing the test. I do the virtual oath while being physically being present in Canada.

- Then I travel back home to Pakistan for two months using my Pakistani passport.

- After two months, I return to Canada using my Pakistani passport and Canadian PR card.

- I apply for the Canadian passport once I am back in Canada.

Can you please confirm how long do you have to wait for the Oath after receiving the Oath invitation? What date did they give you? Trying out the typical time range.

You will be required to cut your PR card at the time of oath, so you can't use it while returning.

Interesting. So how would one enter Canada in such a situation? Without the PR card, and without the Canadian passport.
