Hello,

I am trying to calculate and predict my CRS but having trouble because of my special situation. I am breaking them down to a list so that you might review them easier.

  • Education: I have an A.S. in Electronics from reputable onsite college program in my country of residence and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management degree through a remote/distance learning program. When I get my Bachelors it will not be stating that it is a distance university program since it has no difference with on site program. I will probably complete this Bachelors of BA in 2 years or less since I have some of the classes in my previous transcripts.
    1. Since I will have 2 degrees A.S. and B.M.A one of them is a Associates(2 Years) and other is Bachelors(normally takes 4 years to complete but I will complete in 2 years) can we count those as two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees?
    2. If it does count as two or more degrees will distance learning cause any of my points to decrease compared to on site program, again it does not state it on the degree but if they ask I will tell the truth.
    3. If it does count only as a Bachelors degree, but it does count as a distance learning how can I calculate my final CRS?
Distance learning counts for education points, but not for bonus points in your profile or application.
    4. I have attended to a US community college for one year without receiving a degree or certificate does this somehow affect my score?
  • Work Experience: I have 2 years of work experience as a data science consultant in a multinational reputable company. I am concerned if they do not count this as a NOC Skill Type 0, A or B since I do not have a Bachelors degree at the moment. I got accepted to this position with my non traditional background and currently doing pretty well, my collegaues are all engineers or people with M.S./PhD but we work together and do the same job.
  • Certificate From Canada: My current CRS ranges between 400-474 depending on my questions above therefore I am planning to attend to a one year IT related certificate program and work 1 year through post graduation work permit. On the colleges website they state that it is a program for "Certificate of Achievement" does this count as a one year certificate program in Canada and will I be able to get one year permit afterwards?

My CRS is ranging between 400-475, so those points are very important for me to make sure that I am on the correct path...
I am also planning on working with a certified immigration consultant once I have my Express Entry invitation to make sure everything is on track. How much money do I need spare up for that?

Thanks,

Newbiegrant :)

Note: I posted the same thread under another topic but I guess that was the wrong one but couldnt be sure so if admins kindly let me know I will delete the one that is under the wrong topic.

Way too much information

1. You will know when ECA is done but if your degree is assessed at least 3 years and the other as one year or more than you can count as “two or more.” You can’t count programs you haven’t graduated from.
2. Your work experience counts as long as you have one year, skilled, continuous in one NOC. Not an issue about education as long as you have the employment letter stating your responsibilities, salary etc.
3. Can’t answer as don’t know program. You need $10k in funds and pay first year tuition to get a study permit and you need to show how it will help career in your home country.

Thanks for the response. I am sorry the information I have included was too much but was just trying to explain clearly. Lets try again. Please note that there are 5 questions below before you think this is too much text and I really appreciate your time. I hope I will be able to pay it forward.
  • I will send a sample degree for ECA to figure this out but;
    1. Since my A.S. will be before the Bachelors, do you think that still counts or the 3 year or longer program(Bachelors) must be first earned and any certificate received only after that will count?
    2. Will I be able to figure out if this Bachelors will be considered as distance learning once I receive an ECA?
    3. How can I calculate CRS in case of a distance learning program?

  • Is there any place that I can find the correct format/requirements for the employment letter? For example sometimes they require signature circular and signature authorization letter which shows that who signed the document is actually authorized by the shareholders to do so. It might not be possible to get additional documents from the company once I leave so need to make sure.

  • I can invest 10K and I can also justify the reason of attendance for study visa as well. But I read some people getting rejected for CEC during PR processing because their program of study was not eligible even though they studied and worked for one year post-graduate. Any way that you could recommend to make sure? I wanna have all my plan lined up with proofs before taking it to action.
This is gonna be a long way and I do not really wanna realize at the half way that I was not actually eligible and say Ooops with all wasted money, time and resources :)

I really appreciate your input and help :)

Thanks.

Any ideas for the questions above?

You are asking multiple questions about a study permit and PR. Have you read any of the Express Entry requirements for CEC and FSW. Also look at mandatory documents for applying as that outlines what needs to be in your employment letter.
