They just linked it to regular pre-covid interview page. That's it. Most of pre-covid interviews were anyway just formal way of conveying the results anyway.
Exactly - which goes to show that if they invented a new process to deal with the test, but left everything else untouched, then that wasn't by accident, it was by design.

This means that the interviews are still a part of the process and that they haven't been waived. My expectation is that with the current timelines for vaccines and clearing through the backlog for people awaiting testing, they probably took a calculated guess to say that they'd have something in place in a few months time to allow for both the in-person interviews and tests to run in parallel anyway, so they haven't changed that component of the process for now.

Clarification on this as it is partially correct - the interview is optional, but on the matter of age, not at their discretion as it appears to in that excerpt you put there.

Following through that URL on the interview section shows that they still expect you to give an interview if you're between 18 and 54 years of age.

Your age and situationTake the testGo to the interview
Adult 18 to 54 years of ageYesYes
Adult 55 and overNoYes
Minor under 18 with a Canadian parent or a parent applying at the same timeNoNo, except in some casesTable footnote*
Minor 14 to 17 without a Canadian parent or a parent applying at the same timeNoYes
Minor under 14 without a Canadian parent or a parent applying at the same timeNoNo, except in some casesTable footnote*

So for the majority of people applying (except for folks over 55), that interview is still going to happen.
I think that this table is for the older regular method of testing and interview together.

I think that this page is not updated for online test procedures. Thats why we can see below notes in this page which is not relevant to online testing:
About 1 to 2 weeks before the test, we’ll send you a notice with the date, time and location.
Only the person taking the test can be in the testing room.
After the test, you’ll meet with a citizenship official for an interview.

With online testing, interview is not being conducted on same day and they will decide. I still think that they will interview only for the needed ones.

As mentioned in my earlier post, that is exactly my point - the fact that they would refer to the older section about interviews after making a whole bunch of brand new pages specifically around the online test is not an oversight but by design.

Any country with immigration standards never waives the immigration interview. Australia didn't, even in the middle of Covid and a lot of them are in the same boat as we are. Even if only a formality, it is deemed mandatory.

I just got an online test invite! I have 21 days to complete the test starting from December 1st.

Montreal, QC
Application sent: August 12, 2019
Application Delivered: August 15, 2019
AOR: October 31, 2019
Test invite: November 27, 2020
Hello,

The official notice on the ircc website (In the notices section) says that initially these online tests will concern people who have already had a test date, but which was subsequently canceled.

Thanks for your timeline, but can you share with us the theoretical date where the first (canceled) in-person test was supposed to happen?
Thank you so much.

On one of the FB Citizenship Test pages; 3 other people are confirming receiving the online Test invite. Probably June 2019 applicants.

First invite. As we know that cic never processes based on received date, they will start issuing tests for canceled and new ones.

One person on FB group has shared the screenshot of the online test email. First time appearing for the test. Applied in 2019 and received AOR in Aug 2019.

I read somewhere on a page on the IRCC website that these tests are in the pilot phase. At first, they will only concern people who have had their test already scheduled, then canceled.

I have also read that it will be done on the basis of the order of receipt of these same cases already canceled. This portion of the test will receive their invitations for the test in order of arrival.

Hi, this is my first test invite, so I think that information was not accurate. A friend of mine that applied on the same week as I did also got his first invite today.

It doesn't say anything about interview after test. Are they waiving off the interview after test?
No, they are not waiving the Interview, at least based on what they’ve said so far. The “may receive an interview invite” is referring to applicants under the age of majority. This reference is evidenced by the in-line link right after the above phrase.

If you click on the link, the table indicates that anyone over the age of 18 is required to have an interview. Anyone under the age of 18, may be required on a case by case basis.

Not exactly. The interview step was very important for many folks. If you didn’t have the right documents on you, you weren’t going to be invited for the oath even if you passed the test. In some cases, the right documents meant something like translated passport stamps.

Therefore, you would have to wait for who knows how long before getting another interview.

The interview is definitely the next hurdle. However, it seems like interviews are going online as well. Hopefully that should alleviate any further delays.

Do keep us posted on the test! I’m surprised you haven’t done it already - I wouldn’t be able to keep the excitement at bay :p EDIT: Never-mind, I just realized it starts on December 1st.
