This just changes the distribution of the people that receive ITA, not the number.
I just hope they start doing FSW draws again and continue them on a regular basis. I hold no grudge against people learning French and getting the extra points for that. They deserve them for the work they put in. I just dislike it when the draws become infrequent. That's the double whammy for those who maybe aren't in the position either financially or personally to devote the time to learn French.

So it’s settled then.... french is the new express entry cheat... read up people.. read up... my heart goes out to everybody here who was anxiously waiting for the draw today.... I for one know how stressful another two weeks wait can be... but chin up guys.. the best is yet to come ❤
Since the changes came into effect on 20th, I think we might see a draw next week Wednesday.

The 50 extra points are gonna be a ball buster for a majority of folks. Someone with a CRS of 440 or 450 would jump to 490/500. If there's too many of these candidates, getting a high CRS would become impossible without adding the points for French. Then it depends on how many people are willing to invest the time and money to learn French. Essentially, they're trying to get EE candidates to be bilingual by locking out English only speakers. How successful that'll be with their aim of hitting 90k/100k immigrants a year remains to be seen.
That's incorrect. Someone sitting at 440 would already have the 30 bonus points, so they would only jump to 460 now.
Also, I believe it's very unlikely we'll find candidates that had the 30 bonus points that weren't already in the 480-510 range.

It's nt that easy. People struggle to get score in IELTS even after studying English since childhood.
No body said it is easy. Definitely not easy. But you whether do that, or the chances of an ITA could be drastically reduced.
I've been telling people here to start studying french since early 2020. We're almost closing 2020. A simple decision can shape your destiny forever.

Also, here's a little secret: TCF Canada is ridiculously easier than IELTS.

Okay, that's good to know. There's no point over thinking this anyway. We'll find out what happens when they do the next draw anyway.

Thoughts (on what you have heard) on difference between TCF and TEF?
Which is "easier" as a whole, or which sections are easier compared to the other one.

I really didn't research a lot about TEF. I did TCF because it was the only exam available in my city, haha.

It’s not easy but highly rewarding and plausible if u give ur efforts. Unlike CLB9 or CLB10 in English, what CLB7 requires is only efforts and a lot of hardworking and in-put, its non-related to talents or many years living in a country francophone or whatsoever. I started learning French in January 2020, and got my ITA in September. End of the day, didn’t have to do TCF cus my work experience completed 3 years and brought me to 474. But still at that time, knowing that without learning French I could get 474 in a matter of months, I still learned French so hard like no ones business! Since then I passed DELF B2 with excellency ;)
Learning French is totally something u can do as self-learning. Having CLB10 in English also made me feel learning french was easy and fun ..And the only cost put front should be time not money really.

I don't think there will be heavy immediate impact, but probably early 2021 when francophones give IELTS a try for additional points, and then mid to late 2021 when English speakers manage to learn French.
Also its not 50, its 20. because french speakers were already being attributed 30 points, they get 20 additional now.

Apart from "bonjour & je m appelle" I know nothing about french, can anyone who started his/her French learning journey from the scratch explain how much time will it take to get clb 7 in French as my second language? Even at 472, I am losing hope.

6 months if u quit ur job and study full-time, 8 hours per day with high concentration and intensity. 12 months if u study Part-time with density of 2 hours each day and a willingness to switch to an intensive full-time of 8 hours during all ur weekends.

Choosing the French path would mean sacrificing all ur weekends if not ur current employment.

What about if you’re currently at B1? How much time will it take to reach B2?

I’m stuck at B1

I think that would rather be a question of the right approach rather than the amount of time. Find out what keeps u from getting B2 and sortir de ta zone conforte. If u r happy with what u r learning now and understand 90 % of the things, that’s bad news, u r not making progress anymore, so u need to change ur learning material to opt for something more difficult right away.

I wouldn’t panic at 472. You could wait and see what the next draw brings and decide what you want to do from there. IMO 472 should be good for the the next draw.
