We have recently contracted a web designer/digital media marketer located in the Republic of Georgia. We require him to do some on-site work here in Canada. What is our best option to enable him to come here to work?
Your company will need to apply for an LMIA, advetise the job to Canadians and prove there is nobody in Canada who can do the job. Then the enployee will need to apply for a WP. the process will take minimum 6 months and it may not be approved.
That might not work as I understand it the ICT assumes an employee has worked for the company subsidiary outside of Canada for a minimum of 1 year in previous 3 years but the OP sort of implies they are a recently employed contractor.
Seems somehow they may either have to go the LMIA route which obviously costs and takes time or manage through a mix of remote and business trips although latter technically probably restricted to short progress meetings not actual work. . Also business trips with COVID likely not considered essential travel presently.
