It's really difficult to comment on this right now. Some day cares are still operating, some are not due to COVID-19. Day care costs are an average of $1,600 per month if your child is a toddler (more expensive if your child is an infant). Some day cares have waiting lists, some do not. You apply to each day care separately. You'll need to contact day cares in the area you are living to find out if they are operating, what monthly costs are and if there's a waiting list.

”Toronto area” is a big area. Figure out where you are living and then search for daycares in your area. Because of Covid, daycares are not at full capacity so even those children who had a spot, lost their spot & are waiting to return. You need to you call around and get on waiting lists. Also start searching home daycares...again may be limits. Average is about $1600 per month.

Really depends if you are looking at home daycare or a preschool. Apply as soon as possible and to multiple places to try and find a spot. Preschool will be more expensive. There are also for profit daycares ane not for profit. Obviously there is always competitiom for lower prices preschools but there are usually wait times. It is a strange time for daycare at the momwnt due to lower quota, parents working from home, higher unemployment, etc.
