On student visa, can I bring my husband and son on dependent visa?

Does anyone have any experience on this. Applying for a visa without the kids? What are the chances that kids would be rejected

Hi.. I am planning to apply for study permit for Spring 21 intake and as I need to take my baby along with me to Canada, I am confused whether to submit both our visa application together or to get my study permit approved first and to apply for my baby later.

Please provide me your inputs.

I applied for my study visa together with my wife and 2 kids. We got all got approved.
Thanks for your response. Do we need to specify the reason of taking the family members in the SOP? Also, is additional 4000 CAD enough to be shown in the gic account for one family member?
One additional information pls. Will both the study permit and the dependents visa processing time be the same in case of SDS? Also, is medical test need for minor children as well?

You don't need to specify the reason for taking the kids. For the spouse, he/she will need to have his/her own statement of purpose.

For the funds, I'm not sure. During my first application which was denied, I showed CAD50,000 for a family of 4. It was written in the GCMS notes that I don't have enough funds. I increased it to CAD150,000 on my next try, and I was approved.

As far as I know, if you're applying via SDS, it will be for yourself only. The spouse/kids will apply for a visa after you get approved. Just check with IRCC to be sure, but that was the advise I got before. I applied via regular stream so I can include my wife and 2 kids in my application. Some say that it's better to apply via SDS since it's faster and you can show that you family will be staying behind. But there is a chance that they won't be approved. So I took the regular application route.

Medical test is also for minors, but they will have less tests, depending on the age.

Hi Noelvictoria, from which country are you applying from? Also, for which intake have you applied for SP and OWP? Thanks.

Did you receive your approval letter from the University already?

Before you apply, make sure that you have all your documentation ready. Documents that are not in English should be translated accordingly.

The main things that the Visa officer will check would be the following;
- Proof (monetary funds) that you are able to provide for yourself and your family during the duration of your study.
-Were you able to pay for the first year of study (tuition fees)
-Ties to your home country

The main reason normally for non-approval is usually proof of funds. Although your husband will be issued an open work permit, the Vo assumes he will not be able to get work right away, so you need to show you can support your family during that time.

You can submit the documents at the same time, and pre-covid you get the result at the same time as well

Hi everyone, I've been accepted in NLC for Spring 2021. I have a dilemma. I'm Filipino and living with husband in UAE quite sometime now. But I'm currently stuck in Philippines due to the pandemic but will be going back to UAE soon on visit to reunite. My question is I'm not going thru SDS as I'm going back to UAE. I'll be doing the application online does it matter my LOA is addressed Philippines or UAE? If I submit the one address in Philippines can I just do the biometric and medical in the UAE? Does it matter? Is it wise to apply alone or should i bring my husband? Need your thoughts, thanks.
