Hello everyone.
I'm in a bit of a pickle here. Would appreciate any sort of help in this regard.
So my COPR expired on 19 April 2020. Couldn't travel because all flights got cancelled. Raised a web form around 2 months back stating my "ability to travel" long story short, I got a Letter of Authorization - IM56881017EF via email. The same letter that a lot of other people got in this group. Anyway, i booked a flight through Emirates. I waited for almost an hour for them to confirm whether I'm allowed to board the flight with this letter. After an hour they refused to let me board. They said they've talked to the Canadian immigration office and they require a visa sticker on passport. They won't accept this letter. I showed them my expired COPR and VISA, Same reply.
My VO is London. I'm from Pakistan.
Any suggestions?
Hey man,
Just wondering if you already landed in Canada? Were you able to board the flight in the end? How long did it take you to get the letter after you replied to their questions?
I am in the similar situation. I have replied to their questionnaire last week, so just wondering.
Thank you in advance

Hi Guys as we are waiting for IRCC response for extension and offices to be open, so meanwhile just discuss about the Covid test while traveling to Canada.
It is big confusion, we need a negative covid rest report while boarding or it is not required.
If anyone traveled in last few weeks please share your experience when you enter Airport. It is very important topic too.
Thanks
It depends on:
- The airport you are boarding from
- The airline you are flying with

The respective websites of your airport and your airline will have conclusive information. Call and confirm. As an example Air Canada does not require it.

Just happened to speak to a lady onthis number asking for when the extensions be provided since my flight is booked for the month end.
She said if you have emailed the Delhi Immigration Office, give it a few more days, they will get back to you.
Hey, have you heard back from NDVO or called them again for an update ?

Hi I have received copr document through email. However, my son and spouse documents were missing in the email. Does all 3 attachments will be in same email or different emails?

Did you apply for an extension or this is your original copr? If you applied for extension, please help us understand how long it took you to get the extension.

Hey Guys

Has anyone staying in the US has a COPR which has expired and you were not able to travel before the expiry? Any idea how long it is taking to get the extension? What I gather from reading the forum is that it depends on the VO office, my VO is Ottawwa but I have an Indian passport. I want to apply for extension as I should be good to travel in Dec - 2020. Can anyone guide me how long it is taking to get the extension (my CoPR was issued on July 5, 2020)?

Thanks
Wondering if you got any info on this? I will be in a similar situation in couple of months.

Hello Everyone,

This post has been overdue for some time. So first of all apologies for the late post, it was a roller coaster ride for me the last few weeks. So like everyone else in this forum i wanted to move to Canada asap since I have been unemployed for the past 4 months. So I raised a webform in June when the VBM flights started, another one in July and another one in august, all of 'em got me a generic response. Towards the end of August, I decided to just send the documents proactively for settlement as per the program delivery instructions on the IRCC website. Coincidentally, the day i was about to send the confirm air ticket, Airbnb booking, and rest of the documents required, an email pops up in my inbox asking to submit these documents for the extension. I did it the very next day since the email mentioned it has to be completed in 10 days. My flight ticket was just 24 days away when i submitted these documents, I was counting each and every day since everything goes for a toss if they don’t respond with ETA on time. Fortunately, i get the ETA on the 10th Day, I was in disbelief for some time and i even thought it was fake for a min but I logged on the CIC account to cross verify, and there it was my new counterfoil number. Next task was to check with Lufthansa if they allow this letter to be used, and i had no answer from them so i went ahead and canceled the ticket to book the VBM flight and finally i landed in Toronto few days back and in self-quarantine for the next 14 days as I’m writing this post.

Could you please me know the validity period of your ETA? Is your VO New Delhi?

Hi guys!

I was recently issued my COPR on 22nd Sep 2020 with an expiration date in January 2021. However, I’m not exempted from travel restriction currently in place as I’m a foreign national and applied for outland FSW express entry. Although I still have some time before my COPR expires, I am afraid that travel restrictions can prevail and it’ll eventually expire.

I have two question:

What can be done if COPR expires and you are not able to land in Canada prior to that due to COVID-19 situation?

Is there a way I can apply for exemption from travel restrictions currently? I need to be there for my sister, so I was hoping to travel as soon as I got my COPR.

Kindly assist.
Thank you in advance.

Hi guys,

I have a question re. IRCC guidelines. It says:

"In addition, the applicant and accompanying family members must show that they meet the following criteria:

  • held a valid COPR and PRV on or before March 18, 2020, but these documents have now expired; no specific date for US-based applicants
  • have a compelling reason to travel to Canada now:
    • family reunification: family member is in Canada and usually resides there
    • economic: economic services and supply chains, critical infrastructure support
    • health (immediate medical care), safety and security
    • supporting Indigenous communities
    • expiring status in the US
    • tending to family matters for non-optional or non-discretionary purposes
    • any other activities that are deemed non-optional or non-discretionary by the Government of Canada or based on an officer’s assessment
  • the country where the client resides is not subject to exit controls that limit the client’s ability to travel to Canada. Within IN, processing officers will liaise with the respective migration program managers to verify this information; within CN, processing officers will liaise with the International Network – Rapid Response Operations Centre (IN-RROC), who will liaise with the appropriate migration program manager to verify this information."

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/service-delivery/coronavirus/permanent-residence.html

> Are these criteria cumulative? I am asking because in the "compelling reason to travel to Canada now" they give examples that seem extraordinary. What about an applicant who is ready to travel but doesn't have a job lined up yet, doesn't have family there, etc? I assume this is a bad wording from IRCC and we can still obtain an extension if ready to settle in Canada and COPR issued before 18 March?

Well you need to provide your employment plans like how you gonna find job or give them references of the job openings wrt your NOC from various job sites. Your current situation which could convince them that you are moving there for settling like already resigned from a job in home country or gonna resign once you will get the ETA.

This is the best you can do from your side.
