IRCC are tight lipped about opening VFS and continue to give generic responses,
idiots may again decide to postpone opening vfs in October !

Your quarantine stay should have separate room and bathroom which you can use. If thats the case with your friend's apartment then you can quarantine there and your friend can provide you the essentials to survive for 14 days. No letter is required from your friend. You only need to convince immigration officer when asked.
A proper quarantine is more than a separate room and bathroom. If your room is right beside each other there is likely shared ventilation and when the door is opening to get food then you are exposing yourself. A true quarantine would be in a separate area of a home like a basement.

Has anyone had any luck so far in trying to force the issue with IRCC with booked travel when requesting an extension? I recall a few people on here already booking flights without having received an ETA

We're getting frustrated/desperate enough to gamble booking flights and accomodation in order to speed up a possible decision. Our "Express' Entry PR journey started in 2017... & am just about ready to throw in the towel.
Don't think you are going to push IRCC to approve your application by booking your travel. All you may do is lose your own money.

Again, thanks for your reply. Regarding parents of immediate family members - my brother is already a PR holder. Our parents don't have a visa yet. So, can they get the visa to travel to Canada? If yes, will you be able to share the procedure?

Regarding quarantine with my brother's family, he does have 4 rooms & 2 bathrooms but a common kitchen. Practically, it's difficult not to interact with each other in a house, that's why he himself suggested that he will leave the house as he has many friends. Anyways, thanks for your suggestions!
If his spouse and children remain they will need to remain at home for 14 days as well.

Given that you have a family it likely isn't feasible to quarantine with his family unless you are able to remain in a basement that has a bathroom and you are left food outside your door. I think that your brother and his family leaving their home is the best idea.

Hey Guys

Has anyone staying in the US has a COPR which has expired and you were not able to travel before the expiry? Any idea how long it is taking to get the extension? What I gather from reading the forum is that it depends on the VO office, my VO is Ottawwa but I have an Indian passport. I want to apply for extension as I should be good to travel in Dec - 2020. Can anyone guide me how long it is taking to get the extension (my CoPR was issued on July 5, 2020)?

Thanks
Yes, I think he has separate room as he suggested me to move in with him.
You will need a separate bedroom and washroom. For a true quarantine you should not go into a communal hallway to access the washroom. Also your bedroom and bathroom should preferably be away from where he is staying unless he is willing to remain quarantined with you for 14 days. He will need to leave food at your door since you are not allowed to leave your room.

Hi all,
I'm Out land COPR holder other than USA and COPR issue date is July 2nd.When i contacted the IRCC they replied to me "You are exempt from travel restriction" due to my Final approval date is March 12.
my query is Can i travel to Canada?
Same case with you, I called them and i received an extension via an automatic reply. I think that we are not exempted from travel restrictions.

Make sure to have a two meter long stick with you to keep your friend at suitable distance at your quarantine stay. JK

Below are the official quarantine guidelines:

What you can and cannot do during your 14-day quarantine
Prohibited during quarantine:
  • You may not leave your place of quarantine unless it is to seek medical assistance.
  • You may not have any guests even if you are outside and stay two metres apart from them.
Permitted during quarantine:

  • You may use shared spaces, or private outdoor spaces in your place of quarantine provided you:
    • Avoid contact with others who did not travel with you;
    • Disinfect spaces after use;
    • Wear a suitable non-medical mask or face covering if a distance of 2 metres from others residing in your place of quarantine cannot be maintained.
Recommended during quarantine:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your arm when you cough or sneeze.

Can you help me understand where you are based? Most people have to wait for months to get an extension. I know I am not answering your question but this is the first time I have seen someone getting extension so easily.
I am based in Tunisia, to note that I had received a notification that my CoPR is ready before 18 march, but it was issued on 20 may due to COVID.

And this is in an ideal medical case quarantine. However, the immigrations has mentioned in their website about dos and dont and shared spaces are allowed with few restrictions.For your reference.im pasting it here.
