Im Cambodian -Canadian who got his citizenship young. No birth certificate because of my Status Refugee when I immigrate to Canada.
Born in a refugee camp in Khao I Dang, Thailand.
I had stayed in Cambodia since October 2018 til May 2020.
The local authority requires me to have an attestation that proves that my civil single status. However, I thought that it wouldnt be possible to prove my single status in Canada.
Instead, I made a Cambodian National ID and got my name onto my uncle's family book which indicate Cambodia as my place of birth, because I dont have a birth certificate and proof of single status.
so, I managed to get the marriage certificate anyway, but the place of birth was based on the Cambodian national ID as opposed to my passport.

I would like to sponsor my wife.
Do you think I should place a note on the marriage certificate telling there was an error on the place of birth and have the intention to change it soon? What should I say on the note ? or should I make another marriage certificate with my actual place of birth as indicated on my passport, then get it translate again? However, I would need to go back to Cambodia and the local authority to sign the document with my finger print.

Thank for your help

Which passport? Your Canadian? Your duplicate posts wouldn't help.

My Canadian Passport says Place of Birth: Khao I Dang - Thailand , but on my wedding certificate is Battambang, Cambodia.
My appologies for my duplicate posts. Im new here. Got stressed and surprised by my situation.

A marriage certificate is used to confirm marital status not your residential status. This won’t create any problems. My sons birth certificate lists me as a resident in the country he was born, outside Canada.

That has no impact on the application as legally, a marriage certificate cannot be used to determine your residential status.

Should or should I attache a note to the wedding certificate to avoid any doubts along with my Proof of Relationship documents?

I’ll leave that to you. I am not attaching any explanation.
Thanks for letting me know. I hope that that the immigration officer wont doubt anything about my place of birth. If anyone else has any thoughts about the topic, please let me know. Im open for any suggestions.
