Your judgement is absolutely unnecessary. Nothing about my post suggested what my situation is. I explained to another user why people are upset: employment factors and family reunification.

You have absolutely no clue what my situation is so I suggest not jumping to conclusions mate.

So true. I would like to know if these "Big Rush" guys are joining the Canadian Military. I can totally understand the rush there.

If you look to the tracking sheet for Ottawa 2019 , you notice that most of 2019 applicant have not received any update after the AOR early this year , so applications in AOR status only.

looking to 2020 sheet, most of applicant got the status changed from AOR to In-process. mostly end of august or September. i am just looking to Ottawa office. this means there is progress going on.

it is not clear why they are working on 2020 applications but not 2019 list .

That is so bad, they should clear 2019 applicants first.

Please forgive me here for assumptions but aren't you all permanent residents before applying for citizenship?

What's the big rush?
Having a PR gives you a status as much as a Canadian inside Canada, minus voting. So no complains in that department. Outside Canada however, and in my case among many, you may be carrying another nationality that constantly subjects you to consistent harassment on each airport, visas getting denied, losing opportunities to attend work related conferences, or even getting a visa to visit family (not all my family lives in my home country).

As I mentioned in previous posts, I totally understand the different priorities of IRCC during those times, however, I am still their customer, and they still owe me some explanation of some sort for this delay. At the least, I would like them to share their plans for moving on with online testing. Being completely silent on the matter, while many of their employees are sitting home doing nothing and getting paid in full from my tax money is certainly frustrating. This is the difference between private and government entities, you never get this kind of luxury in the former. The management of my company (2000 employees) had to devise a whole plan from week one to determine how they are going to deal with the pandemic in terms of managing work remotely. No one sat at home getting paid for doing nothing, I assure you that. Entities like the IRCC, or the union for that matter, should have the decency to realize they should not have people getting my tax money and chilling at home doing nothing. I would rather like to see them seek help by any means to modernize themselves and care for their customers, such as myself. The pandemic started around March, it's been 6 months since then and I still have no clue how are they are going to deal with citizenship tests. No transparency, no communication, nothing.

I rest my case.

Maybe the new 2020 applicants = money ;)( they have to pay to start the process) , the 2019 applicants have already paid, so no rush, keep'em in-process status !!!!!

Hello everyone,

Please do not fall into their trap ... Do not pay attention to people who try to discourage you from mobilizing and collective action, while they have a powerful European passport that already protects them and allows them to return here without problem , or then to other mean, egotistical or simply racist people, who try to discourage you and make you lose hope and make you accept the fact accomplished, because there is no urgency according to them, and that to act n ' will bring no benefit (That's wrong: Passivity will bring even more years of waiting in addition)

... It's ok to talk and make noise, alert the press, our local elected officials, the PM's office, the NDP (opposition), and all possible and legal means. Passivity will only give us more years to wait. No interest.

The Charter of rights and freedoms of this beautiful country guarantees it to us, it is written in black on white, in the law, de jure (by force of law). End of the story. We must go ahead, ignore them. Responding to them would be like discussing procedural flaws. Waste of time. It is a technique of not very brilliant lawyers.

To come back to our subject, our friend @Aktars reported this:

Hello all,
Someone named Kathleen Harris from CBC news has posted on a Facebook "canadian citizenship test" group that she is doing a story on cancelled citizenship tests and wants people to write to her on kathleen.harris@cbc.ca.

I think this is the best opportunity for us to raise awareness about this issue and help each other and future citizenship applicants. Please take a minute and write to her ASAP!
Our friend is right. This is a golden opportunity that should not be missed! It would be stupid and really too bad.

This journalist is well known, and specializes in politics, immigration and more. She has already written several very detailed topics, the last one is the one on the high fees of the citizenship application, and the difficulty that it can constitute for some candidates with large families, or very low incomes. She is used to talking about the subject well with all the relevant details, laws and documents, before citing some relevant testimonials from people concerned to give concrete examples (This explains her announcement to find testimonials on social networks, she did the same for his previous article about citizenship fees).
Another advantage of the interest of this jounalist for our situation is that she is a journalist for CBC, the public network and broadcast everywhere ... Do not underestimate the power of the media! ... Almost automatically, French-speaking CBC colleagues do the same article for RadioCanada (La chaine publique in French). So we will gain great visibility.

I want to send an email myself, but my English is very average, my native language is French. I encourage all those who can and who have a good writing skills in English to do so, please. Thank you.

Here are some very relevant indications from our friend @hotshot45890:

Thanks for sharing this. I think important to highlight some key themes to her in our emails in terms of lack of communication, no statement or communication on this from elected representatives including the minister, likely impact of 699 leave and how this is causing significant distress for most applicants. Please also highlight how most of us have paid on average around $1,500 for a family package in a world where many are without jobs and deserve a minimum level of services and transparency from CIC.

Also plug for online testing goes without saying. There is no excuse why this should not be implemented. If it is in fact in process of being implemented there should be communication. Also, I know she is likely focused on citizenship testing, important to highlight how AOR is taking around 7 months on average with many people getting their applications returned after this time to reapply for missing a check mark.

Clearly you don’t have an issue so why are you posting here?

I’ve already mentioned before,

I need a proper passport for my business , even in covid, as often I have had to apply with tons of paperwork for a business visa
They even ask for my birth certificate for a visitor visa... smh. Even though I have been to those countries many times they make me submit about 50
Pages or more supporting documents each time I apply.

then With no eta of getting a visa and also more and more questions being asked each year , by the same country I’ve been in numerous times and have quite a significant business trade volume with those countries.

my business is suffering due to this unfair discrimination solely which is based on my nationality. I do need my citizenship urgently, for myself to be competitive enough to survive.

it’s hardly fair when pay significant taxes on my worldwide income, for what is becoming more and more of a third world level of government service.

It’s even more odd it’s a country where junkies are given priority in free housing along with a free pass in Committing crimes.

You don't have to justify yourself, my friend, just ignore it. Do not fall into the trap.

Let's stay focused on the essential: Make media noise.

it is not about rush. it is about what is right and what is wrong. If someone is paid to do something from your tax money and they are getting the money but not doing the job that they are supposed to do, then ppl will complain. I would love to have a job myself where I do nothing and still get paid. And if all sectors are open now or doing something to adapt to new norms, then why not this department? I am not complaining. You won't find any posts from me complaining but I need to have a clear idea of what's gonna happen in future and what steps are being taken in this respect. Btw I am a march 2019 applicant and 18 months is a long time to wait for a test invite but I am still not complaining.
