Guys, I just received my TCF report, and I got a general B2 (CO: 505/ CE: 525/ EE: 13/EO: 13), with a general CLB 8!
With that my score jumped to 508!

I'm commenting this to maybe inspire other people to start studying french, I started my journey on January! About only 8 months ago! And by very little (just 1 extra point on the EE/EO) i would be a general C1 - CLB9!
So basically, if anyone is struggling to increase their scores, start considering the french path. It's totally feasible!
Now, let's hope for a GENERAL DRAW tomorrow!

Congrats! Impressive results, the long hours of studying paid off! I am sure you will get an ITA tomorrow.
Even though I have received an ITA, I am continuing to learn French, as I believe it can help once in Canada.
Fingers crossed for an all program draw tomorrow!

Unfortunately, my IELTS didn't come out well.

I had the following;

Listening - 8.5
Reading - 9
Writing - 6.5
Speaking - 7.5

I am confident that I wrote a good essay, even though I was a bit overwhelmed during the task 1 (didn't have enough time to complete my closing salutation) but regardless, I am a better writer than a band 6.5 and also, as stated by them, task 2 carries more mark.

I have submitted an EOR form today but I will proceed with my OINP application so regardless of the EOR feedback, I'd still be through. PNP takes more time but the goal, in the end, is the same - to get to Canada!

Once again, congratulations on the breakthrough mate. We should celebrate all the wins in this journey.

6.5 in writing is a common story in IELTS. I really think it's all about business for them and hence they are always stingy in the writing section. You got CLB10 in the other 3 modules. I'm pretty sure you're gonna get atleast a 0.5 band increase in EOR in shaa Allah.

I got my IELTS today: 8.5,9,7,8, and I was very happy with this because it meant I could have a score of 486. I also received my Canadian master's degree today. I began filling out my EE profile in earnest but a question has pretty much stopped me in my tracks. The EE profile asks me the following about my Canadian master's degree:

Did [NAME] study in Canada based on an award that required them to go back to their home country to apply their knowledge and skills? This includes some awards from Global Affairs Canada.

I initially came to Canada to attain a master's degree in an industrial sponsorship from my then employer. The idea was that I will return to this company and resume my job (it was effectively of absence). The affidavit (which does not have my signature) does not specify any length of time or anything like that because I would be resuming once my degree was done. This was not a contract and was an affidavit of support - hence the lack of my signature. The support letter is signed by my father and by the COO. This employer is a family business, and I am a minor shareholder in here. However, when I arrived I was able to secure funding from an advisor and switched my programs (same field). I did not have the pay the money back as it's a family business, and they were happy enough to let me keep it here to live comfortably. I fell in love with my field, and I am now pursuing a Ph.D. (different lab from my masters, but same department and school).

Based on this, do I tick Yes or No to the above question? I am unsure if the question applies to funding/money from a business and pertains to government or academic scholarships/awards.

I am in a similar situation. I studied French for 8 and a half months and sat for the TCF Canada on 26 July. I still haven't received my full results yet, but I did get the results for the EO today; I got 13! And to think that I started with zero knowledge of French. Folks, as jrossi says, it can be done. I am not sure if I will get the required results in the other three skills (they said I will get the results next week). Even if I miss out by a little bit, I will study hard for a few more months and sit for the TCF again and surely nail it the second time.

I remember some people trying to scare us off by saying things like: "I am a native speaker of French and I have spoken French all my life and I have been educated in France but even I cannot get C1 in TCF/TEF, so it is impossible for others to think of B1 or B2".... I am not making this up. I have seen posts like that on threads. Others have quoted their native-speaking friends with similar opinions, but as jrossi's case proves (and to a lesser extent, my EO result also) that it is doable.

If I do get CLB 7 or more in the TCF, it will be a strange story: 16 years of heartbreak seem to be coming to an end...

2004 = no job and no money (This is when I first started thinking seriously about moving to Canada)
2007 = job in eligible NOC but not enough money (everything else was fine: master's degree, IELTS, age etc.)
2011 = job + money but by then my NOC was not in the list
2015 = by the time EE started, I had lost way too many points because of age and I had given up on my Canadian dream
November 2019 = I find out about the 30 extra points for French thing, immediately dive head-first into French.
September 2020 = Get the required result in EO and waiting for the results of the other modules.

If I do get CLB 7 in French, I will have 484 points. I won't be losing points due to age until August 2021, so time is on my side.

Moral of the story: Never give up on your dreams!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but age is what when you entered the pool matters right. The calculation is static for a 12 month period isn't it?

Yeah, I can update my profile a day before my birthday and my CRS score wont drop for another year lol.

CRS score is constantly updated including age, your score will drop automatically on your birthday. For example, if your IELTS results become more than two years old, your profile becomes ineligible automatically.

Even after having 4 months uninterrupted draws, canadian experience and maybe education

I think will be FSW, and I hope so, but we never know.

Question: my employer is not easily searchable on the web. The first page usually returns garbage. The parent company, however, has a proper website and extensive information about my employer. In work history can I write the employer name as: "XYZ Limited (parent company AAB)"?

Or should I not worry too much about this because the reference letter's header contains the company website and parent company's name?

I guess you can. I did the same in my letters of reference.
XYZ Ltd Pte (a member of ABC group) - This is also how my company name is formally presented.

In 2014, I was promoted and had a good salary which went directly to my account. I can furnish 2014 to 2018 with everything and this is what I want to claim my FSW experience on. In the Work History section, can I only mention 2014 to 2018?

The reference letter can mention 2011 to 2014 and say that I was promoted in 2014 to 2018.
