Ok, I applied to change my SIN from temporary to permanent (at https://sin-nas.canada.ca/en/Sin/) by applying for a Change of Status and supplying:

  1. Primary Document: CoPR
  2. Secondary Document (Identification): Passport Scan
  3. Address Document: Notice of Assessment letter from CRA for 2019 Tax Return
Does anyone know:
  • How long this should take to process;
  • How the SIN will be supplied (e.g. document via email on file, post, etc.)
If all the documents you uploaded are accepted, you will get the SIN in your mail (physical copy, not email) in 10-15 days after you apply online. In case any of the document is not accepted, then you will receive a letter in your mail (in 10-15 days) mentioning the reason why the SIN could not be issued (i.e. missing document, etc.)

I got the phone interview earlier today (confirmed my birthday & my wife's, that we are married, my Passport information, my address, phone, e-mail, then told me "Congrats, you're a PR, you'll get the final document via e-mail and can update you SIN, healthcare, etc.") Haven't been issued an actual "document" yet but have DM in GC Key and the CoPR confirmation & number, etc.

Thanks everyone for your help and support! It's been great to follow along and see how everything turned out for everyone. Good luck to anyone still waiting - it's coming!

Congratulations

Just to be sure, you mean without letter you can apply for SIN or once you get the letter you can apply for the SIN and Helthcare etc.?
Also what is "CoPR confirmation & number"?

Thanks!

I’m not sure I can apply for SIN/etc. It’s my understanding that I’ll be emailed a document that is the actual CoPR document. However, ib my GC Key, I have a column that says the number of my CoPR document, an expiry, etc. That may be enough but I’m not 100% sure. There isn’t a link to a document in my profile yet. Others may be able to weigh in on the specifics.

Hi guys, I have a question about the OWP linked to an application: What happens if the application is rejected? Is the OWP also canceled?
I got contacted but CIC requesting more documents so I'm preparing everything I can provide, but I would like to start thinking on a plan B. Do you guys know what happens with the OWP in that case?

Your OWP will still be valid and I believe you can continue to live and work in Canada through the validity of its status; however, there might be some caveats and more speculation if you come in and out of the country.

Why did they want more proof of cohabitation?
