Canadian husband and US wife both living in US. House is on the market. Spousal Sponsorship & PA App received Sydney, NS, 17th August, 2020. Husband wants to repatriate and bring foreign national wife if house sells, likely before AOR1 received at the rate things are going due to COVID-19 delays/backlog. Original plan was to enter after PR card was received. Husband says the modified entry restrictions allow him to bring spouse (me). Modified Entry Info link: https://ca.usembassy.gov/message-to...ry-restrictions-for-immediate-family-members/

So, what, we show up at the border together and they just let me, the spouse, through? I get what, 6 months inland? HELP. Not sure what to do in this case. Edited to say: husband says transfer the app to INLAND and we're good. Truth?

You can’t transfer the application. You’ll need to withdraw and resubmit an entire new one to the CPC in Mississauga that deals with inland applicants. However, I would suggest that seeing as then you’d be able to obtain a work permit while you wait for PR, especially if you plan to repatriate relatively shortly.

Ah, of course you have to withdraw and resubmit. *rollseyes* Thanks. It is what it is. It all probably would have worked out in time if there weren't backlogs and delays.

You can still enter Canada and leave your application processing as outland.

Of course you won't qualify for an open work permit and may have to extend your status as visitor in Canada while you wait. But it's certainly doable.

Or you can make the decision to withdraw the outland and reapply inland once you're here to be able to benefit from the OWP. The big downside of that is that your processing time will restart from scratch. But also totally doable.

I could survive without a work permit!!!! As a US citizen, I won't be applying for a visa or eTA prior to going. As I understand it, I just show up with a marriage license, my husband who demands repatriation, and quarantine plans. And I'm expected to leave in 6 months. How does one extend status in that case? Sorry, I don't mean to be ignorant.

You would extent your status the same way as anyone else.

Whew! Confirming....IRCC would be ok with a change of address to "in country" when "outland" was the status of both at time of receipt of application (and not the time of AR01)?

Would warn you that in most provinces you won’t qualify for healthcare so you’ll should purchase at least emergency coverage.
