Hi All!

Is there a new biometrics law that states that you have to do your biometrics again for a PR application even though yours are not expired yet?

I have done my biometrics in early February for a visitor application and my PR application has a due date for July 20th and I just find out that I need to give new biometrics because they just responded to my Web Form messaged that I already have my biometrics done.

Why pass this law in such a time where nothing is opened?

It's not a new law. It's been like this for some time - biometrics for your visitor's visa only apply to other temporary visa applications. You must give biometrics again for a permanent resident application.

Check the biometric validity letter you received for your visitor visa application. You will see it clearly stated that your biometric information is valid for 10 years but only with respect to temporary residence applications, that if you were to apply for PR in the future, you would be required to give a new biometric information. It is not a new law; it has always been like that.
