Will I receive a study visa at the age of 35? I want to pursue master's in engineering.

I am a male now 34 and have a bachelor's in engineering (electronics and communication), passed out in 2008.

I have 11 years of work experience and currently working in Dubai UAE as a business process analyst.

However, I want to migrate to Canada and have checked the express entry category and found that the points are only reaching near to 420, along with my spouse who is 29 now (currently doing her masters in engineering)

Please suggest, if things will turn for us. Is it possible the Visa officer can provide me a student visa or will there be a rejection?

What are your views?

I got one at the age of 37. Make a strong profile, a logical one covering all the aspects of your past present and future with proof. You can get through.

I am a stay at home mom for the last four years. I had only high school. Soon after high school I started working. Including 5 years in UAE in logistics. Then I migrated to Italy after marriage. Since then i didnt work but I did private tutoring. I showed some property and investments in our home country.
I applied in Italy and I had a valid visitor visa to Canada. Both would have added some weight too.

I got my student permit at 35. Here is my profile and approval timeline:
- Single, female
- 10 years work experience in the Marketing field
- Graduated with a B.A. in Marketing
- Working with the family business
- Taking up Post-Grad in Marketing Fall 2020 intake

Applied December 9, 2019, received my stamped passport on December 23, 2019.

Non-SDS/Regular stream, online application (No Agency, everything was DIY but I did a lot of research and this forum helped a lot too.)

Good luck!

Go for a Post Grad or PhD course that’s IT related. It should be a progression of your studies or your career. Also, even if your ultimate goal is to have a PGWP or to migrate to Canada eventually, don’t state this in your letter of purpose. Having a gap doesn’t matter - I had a long gap too because I worked for 10 years. Have a strong Statement of Purpose and justify why you want to study again after that gap. They want to ensure that students have genuine intentions of studying. Goodluck!

Hi Uti,

Fantastic to know from your end and all the very best to your future.

Are you from India? Which program did you attend?

Appreciate, if you could elaborate and share your experience with us. You have motivated me now, once again thank you.

Dear Mojito,

Great to know this from your end. I wish you all the best.

This is my first experience in this forum and I feel so privileged that you guys are sharing your great experiences.

So you will be getting admitted this September and where exactly are you going to study in Canada?

Each case is different, Officers do read SOP thoroughly while a format may help; the real reason of such SOP may be defeated if one depends on
others work that may have met success.. SOP is simply convincing an officer as to why ur study plans makes sense. so keep it simple
