Hey Everyone, I just want to let you all know that immigration called me on this past friday saying that they are doing the Virtual Oath Ceremonies now due to the pandemic.. Im a Windsor Ontario applicant. They told me that someone will contact me with the oath date within the next 2 months but i think it will come sooner than that. I told them im a front line worker since i drive Tractor Trailer for my job and i need my citizenship so i can go across the border. She made a note of it and told me she will try to get in in as soon as possible. I will keep you all up to date if i hear anything else.

Your case is qualified for urgent processing since you need a valid canadian passport to cross the US-Canadian border for your job..

Did your friends receive a phone call or email invitation for online oath? And for what date is the online oath scheduled? I am from Winnipeg too.
One is for July 22 and other for July 27. I think they both got emails. Didn't mention about any phone call.

Order GCMS notes. That may give you some info about where your file is stuck.
I’m on the same boat.. don’t think calling them is a good idea with what’s going around the world. Everything stopped in March and they can’t invite us for a test yet due to social distancing rules.. so calling them might make you look like an idiot is my opinion

Tests are possible with physical distancing, we have schools re-opening and gyms and most stores. Would it really be so hard to have people sitting distant from each other? Its not like this is a full semester lecture, its a 30 minute test.

Hi everybody! I've sent my application on May 15th 2019 and I didn't get anything regarding the test yet, but I'm seeing people having the oath ceremony? Is this ok? Should I worry? (I AM worried already)

First time in this forum as well, if anyone could give me some light here, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

I was scheduled for March 17 for the oath-taking (I got the notification February 20, please update the spreadsheet) and got the email (on March 14) that they are postponing the oath and tests.

Has anyone here from Ontario who already got an update for the Virtual Oath-taking?
Okay, I'm answering my own question. I just got a call last Monday, July 6 (make sure to answer your phones to unfamiliar numbers), telling me that the In-Person Oath Taking would probably be rescheduled to 2021. And they asked me if I am open to do the Virtual Oath Taking which they have slot / schedule on July 13, 2020 and I immediately said yes. They said they will email me in 3-4 days for the details of the Virtual Ceremony, so I got the email today (July 9, 2020) and also received a call to explain the details of the Virtual Oath Ceremony.

So the virtual ceremony would be via Zoom (one-on-one).
They asked me to prepare 2 IDs (Driver's and OHIP), and the PR Card, and a scissor (to cut the PR Card in front of them).
They asked me to print the Oath form they attached or sign it via PDF for me to send back to them.
They will mail the Certificate of Citizenship.

Kindly update the rest of my excel spreadsheet entry with the details I provided below. I am from Toronto.
  • Decision Made date ecas estimate: February 18, 2020
  • Oath Letter Date (original, pre-pandemic): February 21, 2020
  • Oath Ceremony (original pre-pandemic): March 17, 2020
  • (Covid-19 Pandemic happens)
  • Call from CIC for the Virtual Oath Ceremony option: July 6, 2020
  • Virtual Oath Letter Date and Call from CIC (new date during pandemic): July 9, 2020
  • Virtual Oath Ceremony (new date during pandemic): July 13, 2020

Congrats. But I have a question. What do you mean by unfamiliar numbers? I know that CIC call from UNKNOWN only. I receive lots of calls everyday and I do not answer most of them especially if they are 1800. Can we know your region and was it a normal number?

The first call I got was from Ottawa area code (613).
While the second call shows up as "Private number".

I normally don't answer from unfamiliar numbers, but for some reason, I decided to answer these calls.
Also on my phone, if it is a spam call, it would already be labeled by my phone as spam so I don't really answer them.
