If the idea is that someone from a country with more cases could be potentially bringing the virus to Canada, then they should not look at the hard data, but the ratio of cases per million.
1 million cases in Brazil mean 0,47% of the population has the virus, while 5 million cases in India means 0,36% of the population have the virus. Therefore, even though (in an hypothetical scenario) India have 5x more cases than Brazil, it would be safer to choose a random person from India to come to Canada than a random person from Brazil. Get it?
So, when we pick the ratio of cases per the total population, neither Brazil, neither USA or India have the highest rates of infections per citizen, in fact, they don't even show up in the top 15.
While i understand your rationale, i don't think for the purposes of keeping the country safe it makes sense to look at it that way.

I think you would look at it by total number of cases, because the higher the total number of cases, the higher the probability someone who is infected travels to your country.

You're also looking at the subset of people who would travel in the population, which is a significantly smaller proportion than the total population especially in countries like Brazil and India.

Maybe Canada can bar certain countries from the FSW draw as well. Such as India, Brazil and America.
I think they will, but i also think they don't want to do that, otherwise they could have already reintroduced all program draws.

I think they very much don't want to do that, as it may seem discriminatory. But i also think, there will come a point when they will have to, because it looks bad to draw CEC candidates with very low scores.

They were probably hoping that the situation would improve globally enough that they could commence all program draws without barring countries. But i don't think they have much choice.

U guys are not realising that Canada cnt leave US , as it’s their the top most priority , no.1 trading partner .canada is dependent on the USA. Many people have dual citizenship , and the healthcare is free in Canada . If Canada opens if borders , that means more cases and pressure on the healthcare system. Whereas in the USA , it is expensive
Dual citizens can already cross the border, the travel restrictions don't apply to citizens of each country.

A vaccine is likely to be released by the end of this year therefore I believe they will start conducting draws around September/October because that's when we will know for sure one or some of the vaccines being tested right now are effective. Not to mention new studies on several medications are being conducted as we speak so I guess in 2 or 3 months we will have a better treatment/possible solution to the virus at sight.
Once that happens I believe FSW will be back on the game after all it will take them several months to have their process evaluated and to land in Canada so I think it is reasonable to expect FSW getting back later this year when we, hopefully, will be closer to a real solution.

I also don't believe Canada will discriminate FSW based on their countries of residence. They will either include FSW or won't.

Hello All,
I am so happy to find this group.

I am new to the forum. Request you all to kindly provide your views on these 2 queries :

1) Chances of invite with a CRS score 462 ?

2) Chances of getting a master assessment from CES, University of Toronto for MA Degree in Social Work?
I initially got my assessment done from WES ( 4 yrs bachelors + 2 MA ) . However, WES assessment gave me bachelors with 1 year PG . So I applied again for assessment of my Masters in Arts Degree only from CES, University of Toronto. I am awaiting results for that . If that comes positive , I will then be at CRS 469.

Looking forward to hear your views. Thanks
Social works MA ?
wow!! This is an in-demand job anywhere in the world with current stand . If you have work experience in social works. Pls and pls, explore every means at your reach. You should easily get PNP with social works especially in Manitoba.Sack and even PEI with even 460 CRS. In Aussy, you are like rose flower so pls carry out more research on these. IQAS would have been best to get a masters equivalent but since you have already started that of CES, lets hope you get it .

hi @Issygn . Thanks for your response.

Though I have a degree in SW I have not been a practitioner. Both in Australia and Canada one requires to have a practice license. I have been working in consulting and awaiting my CES results.

I wish you the best of luck. That's a very valuable career to get into based on where we are as a society today. :)

Maybe America's visa restrictions could turn Canada into the new tech hub of the world. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. The only short fall is that it will squeeze out people with lower CRS.

Yup totally agree. Do you have a any idea on chances of invite with CRS 462 and how CES evaluates MA degree ?
Depends on your country and other factors. Generally CES doesn't consider MA as masters. Got mine done and it came back as bachelor's. Depends on total number of years of study. 4+2 stands a chance but 3+2 is usually evaluated as two bachelor's. Also, CES took 4.5 months to evaluate my degree.

I had got my bachelors assessed by WES and received assessment as 4 years of Bachelors Degree successfully. However, they gave only 1 year PG for my Masters, therefore , i decided to get my Masters reassessed by CES. Kindly guide me wht should i do ? Should i write to them informing that i have a 4+2 degree so that they can carry out the assessment accordingly ?

From my experience, WES wouldn’t change their assessment.... you can try CES or IQAS

I have already submitted my application to CES. Awaiting their result . However, I am afraid that they too might not give me Masters Degree. Do you have any experience in CES

Maybe. I know someone who was an H1B visa who is using Canada as a backdoor to gain citizenship and eventually return to the states for him and his wife. Apparently the types of jobs in IT in the states are much better and pay a lot more. I am not in IT so I can’t comment.

Not really.. I used IQAS... but you can always check and see your likely equivalent before submitting application. I know that Wes has a tool where you type in your degree and they will show you their likely evaluation of the degree. Also, IQAS has the same, but their’s is a downloadable pdf which shows the equivalent of many degrees by IQAS standards. Perhaps you should check it out and see if they would give you your desired equivalent. That way you don’t have to make a blind application
