My son was born in Canada 2 months ago and my husband was not present as he is back home and I am sponsoring him. I got my son birth certificate which only has my name on it. Now when I see the check list, they ask for both parents name on the certificate. So I got the forms to reapply for child birth certificate but they want the current child birth certificate back. And I also have to send my husband paper work before Monday. So can I attach a photocopy of my son current birth certificate (with my name only) with the sponsorship paper.? And then send the birth certificate back to service Ontario and if the immigration ask for the birth certificate of both parents, then I'll send it once I get the new one. Can I do that? Or should I wait until I get the new one with both parents name on it?

You need to wait until you have both parents on the birth certificate and then send in your spousal sponsorship.

But it says if the birth certificate is in process then just write an explanation

You can simply write an explanation and send the application without Birth Certificate for now

I'd send it with an explanation and get the corrected one. They won't be looking at applications by then anyway. Hopefully soon but they have the end of February to start on first.

best to wait until your application is complete, if anything is missing and you provide an explanation they will give you an extension of 90 days to get your birth certificate which will delay the progress of your case by 3 months.
