You don’t need to put in your vacation addresses. Read the instructions carefully.

Hello,

Do I need to indicate my flagpole/landing day for the presence calculator? My family and I just went to the US border, got refused entry, apart from my daughter as she has an American citizenship, and came back in an hour to land.
If I need to include that day, what will be the reason of leaving Canada and what os the destination?

Thanks.
Yes, you need to enter the flagpole date in the presence calculator absences list.

Although I forgot that, but luckily during my interview officer just check marked “Becoming PR” entry in the presence calculator when cross checking passport with presence calculator entries.

My application wasn’t delayed.

Thanks I did yes... but it will be great if the instructions did indicate so.

Hi Dora,

That mean I have to fill out all the VACATIONS list In Section 10. and not need to fill out the vacations addresses in section 10. and I have to fill out the Online Physical presence calculator absences list. submit together.

Hi

1. You should note that part of any day spent in Canada, is considered a day in Canada for citizenship purposes.
Obviously, but the calculator takes care of that automatically.
Same applies for spending a single night outside the country. That's 0 days outside Canada for citizenship purposes, but still needs to be specified by the applicant. What applies for a night applies for 15 minutes too.

Thanks. I added it before sending it. Will be great to note these kind of edge cases in the application instructions. There are a lot of ambiguity that needs to be addressed.
An agent from CIC said it was not necessary to include, spoke to them this week.

Was your request for additional details specific to the fact that you needed evidence for a flagpole? What exactly did it say?

I agree about the ambiguity.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t have any issues yet with this, I believe that’s another user in this thread.
But speaking about the IRCC agents are notoriously known for their lack of knowledge regarding edge cases.

*Edit* Just noticed this are posts from a week ago and completely unrelated to Flagpole so should probably not be here, however ...

Hi Dora,
I have to fill in section 10. I go to Hong Kong on 20 Dec 2015 back on 23 March 2016 , and 8 -12 Sept 2016 to United States ?. thanks
I’m confused. What’s the question about?
I assume this is a (confusing) reference to Q10 about where you lived during eligibility period.

You need to list you home address during the 5 year period, holidays or trips to visit family etc do not count. Basically where was your home address based upon driving license, bank statements, from where did you file taxes etc...

Yes, you should, I excluded mine and was sent a supplementary information form (0520) otherwise called RQ light after I did the citizenship test.

Hey man,you should include your flagpole on your application.I made the mistake of not doing that and I was given that dreaded request for additional information form a couple weeks after my interview and test.It basically put my application on hold and I went through hell to get it finalized.Any day in Canada is considered a day in Canada...YES...But you also left Canada and it WILL delay your application drastically......I went through that just so you know!!
@beris Can you share your experience between interview and oath? How did it go? How long did it take ?

I wish I'd known this before sending my application. Just sent it 2 days ago. Is there a way to update them or send additional information? What would be the best thing to do if someone did not include it? It would be great if those who did or did not include the flagpole date could share their experiences.

Responded to similar query in other topic.

Obviously I cannot possibly know why @beris or @Alberta30 encountered RQ-related non-routine processing, and thus cannot for certain know that the failure to declare the flagpole event as a day exiting and entering Canada was not much of a factor. BUT it is highly unlikely it was much of a factor. It is highly likely that other circumstances, other factors, triggered the RQ-related processing.

I do know that generally, with very rare if any exceptions, IRCC does NOT inform citizenship applicants why they are issued RQ-related requests (CIT 0520 or CIT 0171 in particular, RQ-lite and full blown RQ respectively). So it is extremely unlikely that these reports are based on actual information from IRCC.

Of course it is possible that IRCC apprehends the possibility that the date of landing was not a flagpole event but, rather, the immigrant arriving at the PoE after being abroad for some period of time. Any such suspicion would far more likely be rooted in other circumstances. Obviously, for example, if the applicant applies for citizenship with very little margin over the minimum presence requirement, that dramatically elevates concern for even a technical mistake (such as an omission regarding the date of landing "entry" into Canada following what must have been an "exit" from Canada). There are other circumstances which might elevate scrutiny and thus concern, ranging from additional omissions or inaccuracies, to concerns related to or arising from other information (incongruities in the address or employment history, for example, especially in comparison to the travel history in the presence calculation).

But for an individual who had temporary resident status in Canada, was living in Canada, who went to the border to flagpole for the purpose of doing the landing to become a PR, who applied with a reasonable margin over the minimum (which depends on many factors in the individual applicant's case, but probably 10 days is usually enough even though I suggest a minimum of a month extra), the failure to report the exit and entry for the flagpole event should NOT be any problem at all.
