Hello,

I have a job offer in Northern BC. Will it be acceptable for me to fly to Vancouver, then change on to a flight north and then to quarantine in that area at an Air BnB? My new employer mentioned that it may be necessary for me to quarantine at a government facility in Vancouver?

I have checked the government website and it only seems to say that i must have a plan in place for isolating. It doesn't discuss where. I do not want to book flights northwards and accommodation if this will not be deemed acceptable on arrival.

Thanks

Yes - you'll be fine doing that.

Thanks for the response :)

Can I just check... Would the same apply to Vancouver Island? So fly to Vancouver and then take a ferry across. Is it acceptable to use public transport providing no symptoms and use of face mask?

Or to go from the airport to collect a hire car from town? Is this acceptable?

Also, are there still restrictions on crossing provincial boundaries?

Ferry is likely to be high risk. If you Just use to washroom anytime from the airport to your AirBnB you could be exposing lots of people. Call or email CBSA.

You will be quarantined only when you don't have a plan for self isolation

For the sake of everyone's safety, consider a plan that avoids exposure in close indoor spaces.

Yes, I will respectfully follow the rules and observe common sense social distancing, hygiene, and mask wearing during my transit to quarantine - which i will also observe.

"For the sake of everybody's safety"? Good god. Most people are completely unaffected by this thing. Get a grip for heaven's sake! Is this forum full of the most neurotic people, or is this attitude common in Canada right now? It must be unbearable there if so. What is the death rate there, 0.1% or less, like most other places? Almost all very old and already dying... You do realise the same thing happens whenever there is a bad winter flu season? That death happens every day in normal times?

Also, has it occurred to you, even for a second, that... I might not have it? Or that I might have already had it and am immune? Or that, like most younger people, I am so completely unaffected by it, that I don't even develop antibodies, because it's of such little significance?

Yes, I will respectfully follow the rules and observe common sense social distancing, hygiene, and probably mask wearing during my transit to an expensive and probably pointless quarantine - which i will also observe. But please, get a grip! Observing this totally scared and OTT attitude is more worrying than the bloody virus.
Wow, this is absolutely the incorrect response to (a) the legal obligations on you under the Quarantine Act and (b) the real danger this virus poses to remote communities, like those in Northern BC, who have little medical resources and any possible infection puts them in perilous risk if anything else were to happen in their community.

You're also wrong about the science, so *shrug*.

This is, btw, the attitude of British Columbia, the province into which you are coming, and seemingly disregarding your legal obligations. We just told the NHL that we wouldn't bend the rules for them, and lost out on millions of dollars of much-needed revenues because of our desire to keep British Columbians safe in the face of this virus.

Oh, wait, I see that you're Trump Truthing about COVID for some time on this forum and don't seem to have respect for the legal framework of the country you're about to enter. That's a pity.

Yeah... But is the agent at the other end actually going to give me useful information after I've waited for ages to speak to somebody?

So what about standing outside on the top deck of the ferry, with a face mask on, gloves, complete avoidance of other people, and copious amounts of hand sanitiser, and screaming at anybody who comes near me (bearing in mind i probably don't have it)? Is that safe enough?
Here's the Government of BC's rules, which I googled for you: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-preparedness-response-recovery/covid-19-provincial-support/self-isolation-on-return#complete-plan

Does your plan meet these requirements?

People only have to read his rantings here .Somewhere soon, some unfortunate people will actually have to encounter this “ person “, in the flesh . I don’t pray, but I think this calls for one .

Your political comments are bizarre. "I don't like what you've said, therefore: Donald Trump!"... Great.

I've said I will be respectfully observing the rules. Can you not read?

You know, people in free countries also have an obligation to think, question things, and employ common sense / observe the facts around them. And to behave proportionately in accordance with these things. That's what makes those countries free. Hysteria is never healthy.

You have criticized the rules and downplayed the risks from the very beginning. Sadly, you are the one that sounds brainwashed.

I really feel Canada isn't right for you. If you want, I can do the legwork and tell IRCC you don't want to come any longer. More than 90% of British Columbians support the rules and restrictions you consider to be "soviet" or ridiculous.

Cheers, buddy. Hope you get quarantined.

Really? Where and how have I disregarded my legal obligations? Where have I even suggested that I would?

You are literally hallucinating. Please relax. I'm genuinely concerned for your well being right now. This is not healthy.
