CEC- inland
AOR- Feb 26
Medical passed- March 5
Biometric -March 13
GU- March 5 after medical passed, no update since

Today, I got the following response after I raised the webform;
Your application is currently being processed at the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
-The responsible office is not currently reviewing the application and documents submitted to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements. We may contact you if additional information is required.
-The security background verification has not been initiated.
-The criminal background verification is in process.
What does it mean by "responsible office is not currently reviewing" ?

I have had no ghost updates yet, I just got the following response to my web form:

  • The eligibility review has been met.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • The criminal background verification is currently valid.
  • The medical examination results on file are valid.
Furthermore, we verified the information you provided and can confirm that your file is currently located at the Central Intake office – Sydney, Nova Scotia.

So I'm presuming that this means that just the security background verification needs to be done? Does anyone know what happens at this stage and who does the verification? Is it our local visa office?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. PNP-Outland AOR Feb 13th

Hi @andy108 pls I have an important question and I will appreciate your honest response.

I applied for my PR under the PNP-Paper based Oct, 2017. My app has been stalling for over 32 months. After GCMS notes and several calls to no serious developments I decided to do EE-CEC and I got my ITA June 15th 2020.

I ama about to make my application now ans I am apprehensive of any problem with both application running concurrently.

what do you think?
perhaps try to link paper based app to online. So that you can track it from there.

I believe security is done by external parties and not IRCC. It’s is done by CSIS the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. They have no control over that and receive a confidential report.

Hey all.

I have an AOR of Feb 26 and I completed my biometrics on March 16. I am in the FSW-OUTLAND category and my application tracker says I have 11 weeks remaining.
Is anyone else in a similar position? Has anyone in FSW outland received COPR already?

I have also seen comments about requesting an update using a webform and or ordering GCMS notes. Could someone please help me understand the two options?
I'm just one week earlier than you in the time line!

Basically, you get a less detailed response from the webform, but the response is quite fast (usually 3-5 business days). They will tell you something like "your eligibility is valid, your criminal background is under review, and your security check hasn't been initiated. Your visa office is Ottawa," but that's about it. Sometimes it's even more generic. IRCC's instruction says that they won't get back to you if your application is still within the normal time frame (6 months), but in reality they do it anyway. Be sure to ask them specifically about your eligibility status, criminality status, security status, and visa office if you want. To submit webform inquiry, go to https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

On the other hand, GCMS notes are much more comprehensive, even redundant. They are usually around 100 pages long, depending on where you are in the process and how complex your application is. The document includes every single update to your file, every note IRCC officers added. Most of the document doesn't provide any useful information though - usually you are only interested in a few pages. To order your GCMS notes, you need to go through a Canadian company/agency if you are not physically in Canada. Doing so costs ~15 dollars depending on the provider. IRCC is "required" by law to send you the notes within 30 days, but they can request an extension due to their workload (and they often do). It's reasonable to suppose you will get them in ~40 days. getgcms.com and gcmsbuddy.com seem to be popular places to order the notes.

An extension of 90 days was requested for my GCMS notes, currently I've been waiting over 60...
I've noticed some people getting them recently but I wouldn't expect a quick response.

Hi everyone!
First, I want to say a huge thank you to those who recommended to use Fongo app to call IRCC!
Today I called them and I actually got through really quick! The agent was really nice, told me everything I wanted to know, and apologized for all the delays everyone is experiencing right now.
So, my statuses are:

Office - Ottawa
Eligibility - passed
Security - not started
Criminality - in progress
Background - not started

My AOR is Feb.1

Stream - FSW, Outland (Russian currently living in the US)

I plan to come back to Russia in a few weeks or so. But I also worried that they if decide on my application soon, I would have to fly to Canada from Russia then, not US.
On what stage do you think my case is? Is it wise to change countries on this stage?
