Hi all, I'm new to looking at the Canadian immigration and there's outland and inland. We want to go for inland, and I'm curious if I tell the CBSA as my full intentions, or to visit and then switch my intentions during visiting? Also when applying for inland visa. Would I be able to send an OWP with the application?

Well country you coming from? And it depends each case is different and right now with virus even if you didn't intend to move there to be with your spouse you'd be denied

but depending on your country you may have options for them going to you etc

We need more information? Do you have a Canadian spouse or common law partner?

I'm from United States of America, and I mean after this whole border closure between us. And I would be marrying her there in Canada either way, I just want to know how I would go about the border with that.

Well right now you can't likely. Cross there she might be able to fly into USA from what I've heard but it's hit or miss if your goal is ultimately moving in asap for good

And just have to be honest with the border if they ask questions being caught in a lie is way wrose then being honest also have a return plane ticket just in case and any other ties to USA are good to have with you

So I tell them I'm coming to marry and apply for a pr under the inland spousal? And if my intent changes when I'm there that's allowed correct?

She is currently my fiancee, but I would want to marry her when I go up there.

After the border is opened you can say you are going to visit her after you do your 14 days of strict quarantine. If quarantine is still in place you’ll need to either quarantine together and neither of you will be able to go out or you quarantine on your own in a hotel, nanny suite, AirBnB. You can’t appear to be moving to Canada. Do you plan on applying for inland sponsorship or will you be returning to the US?

You should just say you are coming to visit. If asked more questions you can say you are getting married.

Yes it's allowed your intent can change and nothing wrong with that

Atlest pre covid 19 the virus made everything unpredictable

I would love to apply for inland sponsorship to be there with her. And we could quarantine together.

Quarantine is before. You can’t actually move your stuff when you apply for inland processing. Once you get your marriage certificate you can apply for inland sponsorship with and OWP. That usually takes 4-5 months. You need to remain in Canada. Once you get OWP you can get a job. You should try to remain in Canada until you get PR. Thee is always a risk when you cross the border. You will likely be fine unless you cross on a frequent basis but there is always a risk. Depending on where you live you won’t have health coverage even when you get married so you’ll need to purchase emergency health insurance. Every province has their own plans.

I would most likely bring basics, and ship some of the items I wish like my computer and such. But I would most definitely be staying in Saskatchewan.

So I'd have to quarantine before I go? Or after I get there?

Once you get to Canada if quarantine is still in place. Your fiancée would only be able to quarantine with you if she lives alone and is willing to remain indoors during the 14 days as well.
