I didn't do ECA for SE, but yes for ECA yes the transcripts must be sealed and stamped officially by the institute.
For SE application an applicant told me he just sent his certified certificates/ transcripts with the rest of the document package.
Thank you. Good to know. I’m sure there are many applicants who are still confused about this.

Hi all,

Submitted my self-employed visa in April, it was received in Sydney, NS on 4 May.

Still not received any acknowledgement of receipt, though I guess everything is slower these days.

How will I expect to hear back - I assume they'll email me using the address provided on the form? How did others get their AOR? Thanks!

Yes they send an initial e-mail with your UCI on it - then you are advised to link your application to the online GC key.
Don't forget to check your spam mailbox .

Hiya! Newbie here.

Planning on sending in my application end of this year.

I am a bit curious. Those sending in applications now - have you visited Canada before? Or are you applying without ever having visited the country?
I may be doing this without a visit because of the Pandemic. The only other time i will be able to go to Canada is June/July next year and I don't really want to wait that long.

How important do you think exploration trips to Canada are for this Self Employed Stream Application?

Hi Ancan
Visiting Canada is not a criteria under Federal Self Employed Program, while some PNP's program ask for exploratory visit before applying like BC and MB. The three main critetia under R 88 (1) of the immigration regulations are: Work Experience in Cultural Activities or in Athletics, Intent & ability and significant contributions to canadian economey.
Best of Luck

Settlement Funds : The application is asking for this information. How do they view inherited funds? We have an inheritance from family that we have asked be distributed in "chunks", so we will be getting $20,000 (USD) of this inheritance in January 2021. Are we able to count this in Settlement funds?

What about funds from the sale of a home? I know equity can't be counted as settlement funds, but if you have cash on hand from the sale of property, what do they count that as?
As long as you provide information about how you came about the funds. Remember the basic thing you need to prove is that you have an established relationship to the donor. However, suddenly coming in vast resources on the eve of proving your ability to provide settlement funds in Canada will always look suspicious, especially when you do not provide any funds or savings of your own.

A few more questions
- How did you value your business for the Schedule 6A? I added up my business assets but it's also asking for the value of the business? How did you arrive at that #?

- What is a Fixed Deposit? (for the proof of funds)
Term funds that you have in the Bank for a given period and you are paid interests for it. for example, you may "fix" the deposit in the Bank for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. You will usually get a certificate from the Bank to show the amount, tenor and interest payable.

In comparison to other streams of business immigration where applicants are required to invest a sum of their own funds, eligible applicants are instead only asked to proof the expeeience within their industry as well as evidence supporting their claims to being successfully self employed.
Application received in SYDNEY 25th March 2020 and still waiting AOR.

On CIC website it says that you have to have cultural or athletic experience to be able to qualify for self-employed stream. Is there any other stream I am missing? I have experience for more than 10 years and have owned business for 8 years in Agriculture field. Is there any stream where I can apply under as self-employed or business visa?

Any reply will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The self-employed persons stream (federal) has removed farmer stream a while ago but seems to me that some provinces still offer this pathway.
Maybe you can take a look at

Farmer stream was part of the Federal Self Employed Program but they stop accepting applications for now. You can apply under farmer investor programs - business immigration for farmers. Check provinces like Manitoba, Nova Scotia and BC. For example you can send a letter of interest to Nova scotia for business investment and they send you an invitation to apply within three months. Where you have to invest in the province as I know the minimum is $ 150,000 canadian. Check on the official province website and I am sure that you will find a stream that suits your experience.
