Hello,
I know that once you start your inland process, you must stay within the country for 12 months or more before being approved for PR.
But what happens if I have a death in the family in the US?

My father is on his last few strings and most likely will past within the next 2 months. They are about an 1 hour drive from me. So I would like to be there for my family but I know it affects the process leaving the country. So I wanted to ask if there are no exceptions at all.

Also he doesnt have covid 19.

Thank you

You have 2 issues. Yes it can have implications on your inland sponsorship. 2-3 weeks out of Canada seems to be acceptable. The other issue is that you may have difficulty entering Canada again due to covid.

Leaving doesn't affect the app. Being refused entry back into Canada is what affects it.

That said, a few months is not advised but you should be fine to leave for a few weeks and return. When you return, carry proof of the sponsorship app and a copy of your father's death certificate in case CBSA asks any further questions.
